guys correct me if i'm wrong here, but if you have a bad injector you need to replace it, getting it honed will not do anything. I believe exergy even sets their pricing based on all 8 injectors being good, but puts a disclaimer that price increases if the injector is failed.

Yes. I spoke to Exergy last week. They said the most they could do is clean it and see how it would do as far as bench testing. More than likely you will probably need a new injector if it is already testing bad.

Just don't know if honed nozzles will do anything for me, as far as my goals for the truck are concerned.

with your mods, if you aren't going to add more air, I wouldn't spend the money on the injectors. Your gains would be very minimal without a bigger charger, and your cost would be pretty significant.

I think ball park exergy honed injectors and flow test are in the 2g range, plus the cost of your new injector. On the cheap end of the spectrum you can send your tips to Extrude hone and they'll hone them out but do not flow test them. Their quality is very good, and most cases you can get them honed for around 500. Again though with out an air upgrade you'll gain way more smoke than power.

I would look into a built trans before I dropped the coin on injectors. With stock trans tuning injectors really wont help any.

Right, truck will be visiting Mike L in the Sep/Oct time frame :D. Since I have to do the injectors (at least one anyway) now might as well get honing out of the way (if I was going that route) now to avoid pulling the injectors again. From what I am understanding the stock sticks should be able to handle what I want, DD that can consistently run in the high 12s.

So is there a difference between replacement injectors? Difference between going through the dealer or another seller? What brands are best and which to stay away from?

Got a quote from the dealer for 400 even, plus tax. I see others available for a bit less ~$385. Are remans a value or does the you get what you pay for stand true for those as well? I am sure I know the answer but want to hear other people's experiences.

thanks

$400 seems pretty high, only brand I see consistently getting bad reviews is II, although I personally have no experience with them.

Ya, the dealer is pretty rediculous on most items it seems. That 400 was with a discount from the MSRP of 454.

I called SoCal Diesel and talked with Guy. He answered all my questions and sent me out an injector today :thumb:
