I got what I thought was a injector knock. I was running late for work and got on it after a stop sign and didn't hear anything but looked back and saw a ton of smoke as well as a loud knocking coming from the engine. So I pulled the injector eletrical connecter on the #7 and #2 being as they are the common problem childs. The knock still occurred after pulling #7 but when I pulled #2 the knock would go at crank but would leave within 2 or 3 seconds. So I changed the #2 injector and it looked rough a lot of build up around the nozzle. After installing the reman injector I still have the knock and I can't afford to put it in the shop nor afford another injector I need yells advice to try and knock this out as quickly as I can so I can get back to work thanks in advance.

Need a cumputer with efi live or a good scan tool. The lly is a bitch to figure out which injector is bad though. Have you checked the ficm harness really closely?

I've checked the balance rates but all I got on it is when the stroke was 0s across the bored until the knock came then they would all jump to 20 17 -13 just ridiculous numbers on all 8 of them.

As for lifting baxk out of the head I've had that happen to me before and it just sounded like I was losing compression. Just isn't the same

Check the injector harness where it is routed around the alternator bracket. Inspect closely for worn insulation, broken wires or wires rubbed through and shorted to ground. Very common issue for LLYs.

This doesn't sound right. What were you checking balance rates with?

I checked them again today after work while in park my rates are 0 across the board but put it in drive it fluctuates from 0 to highest i saw was 13 on all 8 injectors and will a bad harness cause a bad injector knock?

Sounds like a bad ficm...

Bc obviously you have already checked the harness if you can't respond to people trying to help you...

Ok so is pulling the harness simple as it looks and should i replace it? And i did the balance rates again today and it is zeroed out in park and drive it's 0-13 on all 8. So I have 2 more questions. I've been reading on rebuilding the injectors myself I saw a place that made a kit with all the O rings and what not for the injectors plus tips. Would that be a viable option cause I really need to replace all 8 and want to go ahead and do 30 over if I do but like I said earlier I don't really have the extra money to spend at the moment for a whole set. So would rebuilding them myself be a option at all? If not I got a offer on the truck today I will probably end up cutting ties with my truck if I can't rebuild myself?

We have some really good prices here on our Brand New Bosch LLY injectors. Rebuilding them yourself will not be successful. Takes a lot of proper tools, test bench, clean area, and expertize.
