LBZ: Injector Issue

I sold an injector to a customer for his LBZ. I need a little advise. His bad one was showing in the 6+/- range on the balance rates. Now the he has replaced it he says the balance rate is just solid on 12..? Any suggestions? I'm helping over the phone so any input is appreciated.

Ill have to ask him. Would that cause this issue?

Not sure. But raising the height might effect the spray in the bowl causing alittle different cylinder pressures. Just a guess no hard info.

I could be totally wrong here but I thought I remember somewhere that a super high balance rate like that was a sign of internal damage, like a hole in the piston?

you could swap injectors around between cylinders to rule out an injector issue.

It would go to plus 17 if that was the case. It's litterally stuck on 12??? That's weird.

LBZ's need the injector flow rate programmed into the ECM/GPCM. That may be part of it.

Yes. He said it was just stuck on twelve. Untill he raised the RPM's then it would zero out(like they always do) and the when he let off it would move around but it was still showing crazy numbers like 8.. Seems to me its a wiring issue or a really faulty injector.

He checked the blow-by and said it was pretty bad. I'm guessing an internal issue at cylinder 7.

The injector usually comes with a sheet that has the flow rate code on it. A tech II is needed to program them into the ECM and GPCM. If you don't have the sheet it is printed on the top of the injector.

Not saying this is your problem but it could be a start.

Problem solved Cylinder 7 compression was 0.
