So a house is coming soon which means motor build soon. I want the truck for towing and long distance runs. the plan was 700hp tops with my current setup and 45% over injectors and dual fuelers.

What have guys gotten for longevity with dual fuelers? does the control box last quite a while?

What about 45% over injectors? obviously the injectors arent that great in my truck to begin with but would the bigger injectors cause my any more issues than stock down the road? is the smaller pw worth it?

My biggest thing is the truck not leaving me on the side of the road. i dont plan to cut corners for cheap stuff but im not gunna over spend either.

to be honest, i almost want to leave the stock injectors in and single pump and run teh truck like that. ive come to a realization these last few months that the diesel stuff is not something i want to be in hardcore. Id rather spend money on other projects after this motor.

what do you guys think? i know this more of what i decide myself where i want to be but others opinions help. Kind of a weird post, i know.

i have been on dual fuelers on my lb7 for 2.5 yr stock motor stock sticks i dont beat on it regularly though lol

Yeah i wouldnt be either. Just every once and a while. Id probably run a 500hp tune 90% of the time

Btw, for those that dont know, i bent a rod at the NHRDA race here i phoenix

I would go easy maybe a Wicked diesels pump and 45% overs.

Or just leave the fuel system stock and put in rods and not worry about it

I also bent my rods but that was with stock injectors and a industrial 42% pump now i have 20% injectors and love them but i am going bigger with duel pumps. Just do it right the first time,:thumb:

One thing you need to take into realization is that no matter how well you build it right the first time there is still @ some point going to be a breakdown. These performance trucks are badass for sure but there also is a cost associated with a badass truck! I am in the same boat as everyone else wanting a bullet proof truck with a 1000hp but the truth is even 450-500hp trucks break down. My .02 cents good luck.

i must say i had the most fun with my truck when it had a intake, exhaust, trans, and tuning. It put down 520 HP, ran a 12.4, and i drove it to vacation and all. After the turbo and all it became unrealiable for some reason. If i had the money and i was in your place i would run one big single pump, the 45 overs, and build the motor. You should have a 600-700HP realiable driver. I had bad luck with dual fuelers eating belts and leaking i dont know if i would ever run another set.

i have had my dual fuelers on since early 08 and they have been fine. You can get alot of fuel with stock injectors and dual fuelers but the 45% injectors would be a good idea

yeah, im really concidering jsut leaving the stock fuel system

oh trust me, i dont expect this new motor to last forever or to no give me any issues. like i said, i am already preparing myself for the fact that the motor may have to come back out again. that type stuff happens and these motors were never ment to be pushing this much power to begin with.

i dont blame ya there but when your jacked up as high as i and runnin 37s with 7800lbs on the frame, 500hp only gets you 13.7-13.5. my original goal was high 12s and i almost hit it. at this point though, i dont really care for trying to hit those times, i jsut want the occasional weekend of crusin around at 650-700hp.

the reason im thinkin 45% overs is due to the lower pw and timing. I believe it would help my pistons that much more for longevity but i dont know how that would work at 700hp.

The reason i dont want a single pump is i know no one with high mileage on a single big pump. I dont know how long they will last. Im talking 100k on one. i have 165k on my stocker and it still holds 22k with 25k commanded on a 2900pw and will hit 25k if i tell EFI Live to command that pressure at idle, while the 4k drop in pressure is not that great, its still really good for what it is. Specially since the stock command pressure is 23k. Add another stock pump on top of that and the volume would be there to keep 25k commanded.

Im leary of a single big pump as i dont think there is enough info out there on their longevity. maybe im wrong but ive yet to read anything on that.

I think your on the right track with a nice set of dual fuelers and run the 45 overs. thats next on my list.

I would run two new stock pumps from Bosch. If you wanted I could dial in 60s or even 100s to be smokeless and drive like stock. Just depends on how big you want to go. I always recommend the 60s.

As a testament that it can be done for all the naysayers, when I was done with Dmitris he drove it across the country...on 150s.

yeah the new pump/s will be a bosch. i jsut feel 60% overs are more than ill ever need. after seeing matt run mid tens on 45% overs, i think they would do my job jsut fine and drop the pw enough as well. Hell ive even thought of jsut doin 30% overs.

I dont believe you though steve :roflmao: :D

btw, is it safe to say that 2900pw on stock sticks is comparable to a 1600pw with 45% overs or is this not a direct relationship? ive always wondered that

The way that companies rate their "%" is different. What is important is the LPM number at at what PSI.

do you take the lpm % over stock and lower the pw by that same % or is there more to it than that? and do you do the same with the timing or is it different even still?

If you are looking for a true equivalent pulse width, the only way to find out would be:

Change nothing but injector size, and dial the truck to make the exact same power (making sure fuel pressure remains the same also). Then note the pulse and make the calculation.

ok, so in other words, there is no direct relationship between pulse width and injector percentage over. its all based on LPM in comparison to stock injectors. thanks steve!

Yeah you can't just take an injector labeled "60%" and reduce the whole pulse table by 60% and expect it to be equivalent.

but why? i added 45% to my whole table and it felt like i had 45% injectors cause it smoked like a freight train!!!

:roflmao: yeah im only kidding :D
