Hey I am trying to figure out what route to take, my diesel performance guy said the injectors are bad on my 04 Duramax, it has 162000 miles, it is a LB7. The dealer said it is the injection pump, and that the injectors are good. Had another guy look at it and he said it was injectors. How do I go about getting dealer to replace injectors first(warranty work) then if the pump is bad replace it. Has anyone else had these kind of issues?
Thanks all in advance,

Yes they are the original injectors. It is blowing white smoke, engine light comes on, it runs rough, it will loose power, won't do anything but idle, shut it off and let it sit a bit and away she goes, engine light still on. After you start and drive it a few times engine light goes off.
It will run fine for acouple days and then out of no where it starts acting up. It will idle rough sometimes as well. That's the best way I can explain it. Any questions I will try and answer.
Thanks

Moved here.

You need to get something on there to pull the codes to see what is tripping the cel. Possibly is the injectors but it may be as simple as a wiring harness rubbed through as well.

Best to get what the codes are and go from there. Sounds like it's CP3 (pump or regulator) related more so than injectors but without the codes are further diagnostics hard to tell.

Never really heard of injectors going where as truck will only idle

White Smoke is from bad injectors.

They have to fail the rail pressure and return rate tests for GM to cover the costs though.

Any update?

It could be both but neither are hard to diagnose either. Find someone who actually knows what they are doing and you will find out for sure. Best of luck.

Burning coolant will cause white smoke as well.

what mods where done to the truck if any?
codes codes codes ????
ask your guy and the dealer what lead them to there conclusions.
I would lean towards injectors if you are not loosing coolant.
