Way too much torque... FYI I made 701hp and right at 1000 ft lbs. My truck is still alive

Bobby grofts lly survived a couple years of hundreds of drag races, numerous truck pulls. He has a s475 with injectors pushing 685rwhp and his head gaskets just popped. Only put down around 1100ft lbs. keeping the torque low seems to be vital to keeping these motors last a while. Although he did not have the s475 on for all two years of constant abuse. Detune that torque!

Truck was 550hp and 1000ftlb. For year and half and a boat load of passes and pulls. Truck made 685hp and 1100ftlb as Devon said. Truck still had stock head bolts when the gaskets went. But I don't believe the HP was what made them go. It was the 4500rpm pulling that caused it.

Good numbers and bring that torque down around 1000ftlb and you will be fine.

How do I get the HP badge by my name? Should my truck run in the 11s being at that power level or am I still in the 12s? I run 7.9 1/8 at 86 mph

I have been 11.69@115 with a 1.80 60' so I'd say your boarder line

I learned there is a lot more to going fast then power and weight. My truck should be in the 11s but other factors beg to differ.

Weight is 7100 with me in it, I can shed another 100 lbs if I wanted easy. Converter won't lock till top of 3rd so in the 1/8th I'm over half way done when it locks in. I cut 1.73-1.8 in it. And I've made 15 passes, 1 hook to the sled I was spraying with a .88 jet when I did that, done one cruise in kc, and have drivin it 5,000 miles set up like this... Should I call and have him re tune it to 1000-1100 would I notice the drop in torque?

I wouldn't say u have to to anything. Just dont be upset once your building a motor. If u want it to live longer, turn it down a bit, like the others have said.
