I'm back friends! Change in plans, I'm now down in Gulf Port, MS for "steelworker" school. I guess being color blind was a no no in the aviation world. What did I miss?

Good to hear your back. I'm color blind too and ya in the military and being color blind severely limits your job choices at least in the usmc

congrats. so now your an iron worker huh. you should be able to build some really bad ass stuff now lol

Lol, no I am not a iron worker. I have been learning the basics of sheet metal, gas cutting, gas welding and arc welding. Most of the gas stuff I knew already but they are teaching me the theory behind it so really helps me to "understand" why and what I am doing.

what did teach you?

At this point only the mentioned above. This is a basic course, not sure when I will learn more.

Good news is I am top of the class which means I can advance from E1 to E4 straight out of school. Sure would be nice.

Well guys, It is official! I am leaving for Afghanistan in less than a year. I have been assigned to NMCB-15 as a steelworker and recently was asked to join the convoy security element! I was ready to leave yesterday. :thumb:

Best of luck, it sounds pretty damn cool but scary at the same time.
