so rebuilding the ifs on my 06 lbz going with all moog parts and g2 tierods dhd brace was wanting some ideas on motor mounts the truck is a daily driver so I have heard merchant mounts suck for a daily is there some other good mounts out there or should I just get some off rock auto and drill them for bolts also going to lower it so I can four wheel launch so what's some good shocks I have always ran the silver Bilstein shocks is there something better out there like fox? and any other info is welcome thanks guys

bolt the stock mounts. thats all Steve, Brian (on his last two trucks) and i have ran. no problems to date.

for shocks, rancho 9000 adjustable or QA1 double adjustable. you want slow rebound, you wont get it with a fox shock without making daily driving crappy riding. Ranchos and limit straps might be the cheapest route but not the most ideal for drag racing. its all kinda a give and take

What's wrong with Merchant mounts? I bought those for my motor build

they do not dampen the vibrations from the motor like stock mounts do. on a DD, you will definitely feel more engine vibs and of course, that likes to make the rest of the interior make more noise.

thanks guys yeah I have heard nothing but good things about merchant mounts other than they rattle the inside and this truck will be driven everywhere so I don't want to listen to rattles I was going to get some mounts from rock auto about the cheapest I have found like 50 a side

now for shocks I don't know if I could swing the money for q1a right this second but I will defiantly look into it what about some more bilsteins just to get by or are ranchos better I have never ran them so thanks for anymore insight guys

Shouldn't merchant have redesigned them by now if they are casing problems how bad can it be? Sorry to the op not trying to high jack

they work exactly as designed. to hold the motor from moving and be strong as hell. the problem is, you remove alot of the dampening due to the bushings used. So motor vibs are transfered into the frame alot more than stock ones allow. This will only be noticed by picky people in a DD that like a nice quite truck. I ran poly mounts in my samurai, vibrations picked up in the driver seat were much more but i beat the heck out of that thing off road and stock mounts could not handle it, it was worth the trade off.

personally, the single 9/16" bolt ive had in my driverside mount for the last 6-7 years has done all it needs to do while still giving me a nice quite cab. im a picky one when it comes to this truck

Got my motor running, Merchant mounts do transfer more vibration at idle, but not too bad, I can daily drive with them no problem, maybe the balanced rotating assembly and AF cam help out too.

Do you have a write up on how to remove the drivers side motor mount and bolt it?

Undo steering shaft, make sure to wrap seatbelt around steering wheel so it doesn't spin freely (can damage it). Then put a jack under the oil pan or anywhere on the motor. Relieve the pressure from the motor mount, undo the 6 bolts and pull it out. I have found it easier to heat up the bolts then back them out when hot since they have loctite on them.
