Here's the weird thing.

I do a Tech2 "New ECM" then check the CVN codes with the Tech2 per the bulletin. None match.

I now flash a EFILive 800HP race tune in it. The CVN's don't change.

I return to stock with EFILive. No change again.

Has anyone tried this with a handheld tuner (PPE, Predator, etc) and had the same results?

Wow. Interesting topic. I'd like to know as well, but I don't think we'll get a concrete answer. The GM techs say yes but the tuners say no.

Heck, I traded my 04 gasser with a tune and was supposedly "GM Certified" and they quickly turned around and sold it to someone I know without any problems.

So much for actually checking.

Well, I think the only time you will GM checking is when a truck is in for repairs to the drivetrain. Honestly, it may be something the shops won't even bother checking unless GM tells them too. Things like this take time which can reduce the techs pay if they spend time doing this to every truck. If a truck is in for tranny problems/engine problems that can cost $$$ you will prob see GM requesting this be checked.
