So you are saying the pump should not need to go to WFO even at WOT? I mean, that would make sense as there should be some headroom designed in.

In an ideal case no. Going to full flow on the pump means you've got some issue(s) somewhere on a 100% stock truck.

Get off the keyboard and into the garage. Come back with the return rates.

^He's right you know.

If the truck is truly 100% stock, you have verified the pump is capable of 180 MPa, no excessive restriction at the test port (how much restriction did you see?), that points right at it needing injectors.

Let me put you at ease. I also have an 08 LMM with 140,000 on the clock. It busted a piston and now I am rebuilding the engine. Just got a call today on my injector test results. Turns out I have 1 bad injector and the CP3 needs a part as well. After buying a set of injectors I will be in for around 10K when it is back up and running. So don’t feel lonely diesels are expensive.

With the engine up to temp as a baseline if you get over 100ml on your main return line to tank when cranking for 15 seconds then you have too much returning.

On the older trucks (not sure if lmm is the same) any more than 16 ml per bank when measuring injector return or 4ml max per injector is an indicator of a bad injector.

Your cp3 should return less than 35ml under the same conditions.

Simple question

If the fitting was good for 200k on a stock truck why is it now a issue??? ITS NOT THE FITTING! Then again I'm no engineer or fluid flow specialist but a pretty good common sense person. These guys are giving you good info you may try listening and I bet you figure it out.

I will say that when I took my fitting out to be enlarged it had a white gelled substance in it restricting flow. I'm almost positive it was emulsified water into fuel, I'm sure it was obstructing flow, but the truck still ran just fine. Just a little FYI...
