Did you check clearances before you pulled it apart? Im just curious about the failure here; I have 140k miles on my suncoast IV and its never been out of the truck, still shifts like new...built motor, twins etc...

This wasn't a clearance issue. It was a defective clutch plate. Seems this is not uncommon for the alto's to do this.....

I had this happen to a trans I built a while back, after a few calls to suncoast they helped out, by sending new clutches.

Too bad they probably don't cover time, labor, fluids, etc.

Just a vent i have to deal with this sort of stuff at work. A small "oops" on the manufacturers end can cause a big expense/headache on the customers end.

I called them today and didn't get shit...They wouldn't even sell me the clutchpack outright. I'm not too impressed with the customer service and they will not be getting anymore business from me.....

I do have to give a big thanks:hug: to Mike L and IdahoRob, excellent customer service and help on getting this problem taken care of:thumb::coolspot:

After 2 years time I could see them not sending you replacement clutches at no cost; but I can't imagine that they wouldn't sell you the clutchpack, there in business to sell stuff!

Have you thought of contacting Alto directly since there the ones who actually make the clutches?

I hope you didn't get stuck on the phone with the lady who answers them. If so I feel your pain. She is the ONLY reason I didn't buy a SUNCOAST kit when I did mine. She hung up on me TWICE because I asked her what else I may need when doing mine since it was an 01 with 162K miles on it. The first time I thought we got disconnected because Iwas on my cell phone, but I called back and told her I was just talking to her about a kit and she hang up AGAIN! I know you can buy the ALTO packs directly through an ALTO dealer(I got mine through a DAYCO dealer), but if it's a stage 4 kit they may not work as SUNCOAST custom machines the apply piston for the C3 and adds in extra clutches. I would call them up and say you want to talk to George and ask him. I had an issue with my ALTO's and ALTO had George give me a call. In the end I wished I would have bought from SUNCOAST, but I can't bring myself to buy from a company where you get hung up on because you ask questions about there products. It sucks too because before that I would put SUNCOAST converters in every trans I built for customers, not no more after her.
