I vote hot side pipe rubbing on the master cylinder.

Can also rub on the brake lines near the frame. Have you looked at all the pully's including the harmonic balancer at idle? I know you said it sounds like a tractor so I don't think it is it but are you familiar with the "type writer tick"?

This isnt a tick. If it were gas i would say a few rod bearings let go! I will surely look into these things when i get home tonight.

This is my last day at work and i am off for a week so it will all be looked at. If anything comes to mind please let me know. When my boots get here i will get it back in one piece and take a video to post on youtube. Maybe that will help.

I also have the hot side completly off and aside from the lower boot it looks good. I am replacing al boots when they get here.

I put the new boots on it and a water seperator since i broke a wire off of it the other day. I did the pcv re route since i was that deep and need the room to see while its running. It was dark when i finished so i started it hoping the noise was gone, no such luck. I will video it in the morning and post a link to it. Im tired of it but i now have 6 days off to figure it out. I did change the fuel filter the day before it started this. I used an acdelco. Any chance its defective and causing the noise?

I hooked up my ppe standard and found what says balance rates. I read that the option wasnt therw but thats what it said. The readings were in mm. On startup in park the following were read;
1. 0.6
2. 0.5
3. 1.0
4. 0.3
5. 1.7
6. 0.0
7. 0.0
8. 0.6

After running a few minutes this is what it was;

1. 0.2
2. 0.9
3. 1.0
4. 0.9
5. 1.7
6. 1.3
7. 0.8
8. 0.0

Fuel pressure was anywhere between 4700-5500psi.
I dont know if this tells anyone what i may be dealing with or not.

well those Balance rates look good. take your oil filler cap off with it idling and see how much blow by you have coming out. a cracked piston should show a up in the balance rates though.

I just noticed something strange. While sitting still in park idling the speedometer is bouncing around. Kinda steady at 3mph but up and down a little.

If i even touch the throttle the noise is gone. I can hold it at any rpm without a noise at all. I can hold it at 900-950rpm and no noise. Only at idle. youtu.be/k9J4cTqlQGs

Changed fuel filter and added injector cleaner. No change but i did notice when the speedometer drops back toward 0 is when the noise starts. When it rises the noise stops. This is all done in park at idle.

Sound like its at the front of the engine? I had a cp3 do same violant shake at idle and give it fuel and go away. Don't know if the sound sounds like its at the front??? Otherwise I'd say flexplate

Pull that little cover on the drivers side of the bell housing out and see if the noise sounds like its come from there. also bar the engine over through that hole and inspect the flex plate and see if you can see any damage tot he flex plate. I had one bolt come loose on mine and it was make a noise nott his loud but similar. when i barred the engine over to check the flex plate i found the one bolt wasn't holding the flex plate tight to the convertor.

I hate it but i agree. Enough that i just got home from ordering one.The noise does seem like its coming from there. Using a stethoscope it seems the noise is loudest there too. I dont have a way to do a cutout test. Now when it starts and when the truck is shut off it makes a pretty loud metal clanging noise. It looks like i will pull the tranny tonight and see if thats what it is. Thanks for all the help guys. I will update you when i have news.
