Update time. The fpr did NOT fix the issue, we niw have relaced the idle air control valve (sensor in the throttle body). When i installed and did the first start i didnt clear any codes, started the truck and it reved to 2500 instantly let it run and it acted like a run away diesel revs just kept buiding. I shut it off at 3500-4000 rpm. Cleared codesrestarted truck cranked and cranked let go of the key with the engine amst stoped it fired and reved to 1200 and then rested in a nice smooth 750rpm idle. Shut it off restarted it idle perfect and did it about a dozen times with no issues.

We will see how it does out in the real world (out of the heated garage) and i will update.

One curious thing that came up is when the old sensor was pulled out a strong smell of gear oil hit me and dad, like really strong like someone poured out a differential on the floor. The sensor had been broken the head sticking out and a spring showing maybe it was filled with gear oil for lubrication? Or its just the smell of a burned out sensor.

After speaking with lonnie this weekend and tonight i think im pointed in the right direction the guy knows his shit for sure. Thanks all i will update and let you know what it does.

LS3 is square port, truck manifold is cathedral port. The bolt patterns aren't even the same. There is no way that I can see somebody making that mistake, but I guess there's a first time for everything.

Had square port ls heads, sorry not in my sig. Buddy had a wrecked camaro 2010 i beleive. Took heads and intake used ls6 cam and rockers we were told anyway it came out of an z06. (Had them laying around from an old project) Ran good till we went back to stock... Truck had blown a head gasket, ended up cracking the overflow tank, so we decided to go back to stock. Had a guy come up with a tune for it ran which was decent but it needed tuned by a pro ls guy. All the stock parts were kept in a climate controled garage, when we went back to stock it had a stalling issue. The truck was sitting and we had parts so we decided to play a bit. Now we need the truck for field worka nd may trade it in on a new truck this month.

Another question is tq to yield bolts we got new ones to go back to stock and didnthe proper tq pattern. My question is can tq to yield bolt be reused? Inhave heard both, when we went to ls3 heads we reused the bolts andninfeel thats why the hg gave out

One more thing is we are assumeing the truck is a 4.8 as it has flat top pistons never had it out personally to check casting numbers on rods and crank. It is not the born with engine as we thiught when we bought it. The original 4.8 had a melt down from a cooling issue from the previous owner

Not sure its what was in the truck when we got it. Told it was a 4.8 and with flat tops i would agree i know there are some flat top 5.3 but with the way the engine pulls way up in the rpms i would bet 4.8...

After a new fuel pump new fpr and new iac could there be any other culprits?

I know an l92 head is for a 4"bore perhaps its not a 4.8?? I never measured bores. Maybe my issue is tuning and running a 4.8 tune in it? If it is a 4" bore it would be what? It never crossed my mind on bore size

not quick

Did you put the tune file that came out of it back in or just the stock tune for that truck? Could be a tps or maf also.

If you had ls3 heads on that then you have 6.0 in that truck.
