I just bought a 2004 chevy duramax 3500 crewcab lb7 with 185000 miles on it and it's completely stock I'm not sure if the injectors has been replaced yet I'm not sure on to much info on it but I gave $6800 for it which is a good deal to me with the mileage and how good of shape it's in but when I bought it i was rptest driving it and it was going into limp mode and the water in fuel light was coming on in message center and has a slight hesitation to it not bad though stills idles good and seems to have plenty of power but can tell something is wrong, we'll I just put hot shots secret additive in the fuel tank then went to do the oil treatment to and drained the oil and it had a massive amount of fuel in the crank case I drained like 4.5 gallons of oil total which is way more then what it's supposed to have and I put the treatmeat in and it fixed the oil pressure problem it was having but my question is could a stuck open injector cause it or a leaking return line and how can you tell which one it is without tearing into it and also with the water in fuel light on is there a sensor that can go bad I bought a fuel filter to put on it to see if it shuts the light off but didn't get to it after changing oil please let me know trying to see if something else is c wrong before spending a lot of money on injectors and before dropping the tank to drain fuel out and find out the sensor for the water in fuel is just bad

That is a pretty good price. Do a balance rate test on the injectors. Most of the time that will show if there is an injector problem. If its an lb7 theres a good chance its probly the injectors if they havent been replaced. Any haze at idle? Does the motor run rough at idle? Do you know if its an LB7 or LLY?

Not having diluted oil fixed the pressure problem not the additive.

You need injectors. One of the body's cracked. Unless the injectors were done recently there's a very slim chance a return started leaking. You can vacuum test the return line though if you want.

A stuck open injector will not leak fuel into the crank case. Contact Brent at Lincoln Diesel Specialties for injectors. Do not go the eBay route because you will be doing them over.

(It's a lb7 engine code 1)and yes I meant changing the oil fixed the oil pressure problem not the additive of course and it did smoke white some but not bad I figured fuel in crank case wouldn't help with that. And it doesn't idle real rough just a light miss and alight hesitation while driving. Also one more question if the injectors are bad wouldn't it make the engine light come on ??? Jw or is that only if the injectors is reading out of whack instead of cracked housing, and would the water in fuel light make it go into limp mode ??

And trust me when it comes to injectors I'm not the type to just replace the bad one if I got it torn down I'm replacing all of them and I'm not gonna buy the cheapest ones I can find cause if I go through the trouble of replacing them then it's gonna be with good ones. Also Agenda what do you mean reseal the cups I haven't done injectors on a duramax yet I know you gotta pull the valve covers off and then the surrounding housing then the lines and then the injector retainers

I have never had a engine light come on with bad injectors. If its and lb7, smoking white and its filling the crankcase with diesel its gonna be your injectors. As stated above Brent at LDS will take care of you on injectors. Water in fuel sensor shouldnt put the truck into limp mode , the wires on my sensor are cut off as with alot of other people i know and dont even throw a code.

Will the injector doing what it's doing throw it into limp mode??? Cause I've seen 2 different limp modes one on my 02 duramax it would drop down into 3rd gear and that's all you would have no reverse just 3rd gear until you shut it off and turn it back on it ended up being a slippage in the tranny, then this new 04 duramax you can be driving it and slam on the gas and you will get up to bout 55 and it won't go no more it will just bogg down and stay at 55 till you let off the throttle and ease back into it

He is referring to the cup the injector sits in. There is a chance they will pull out with the injector and if they pull loose even a lil bit it will leak coolant into the cylinder and allow cylinder pressure to pressurize the cooling system. I would find a good HOW TO on one of the forums before you start to get an idea of what you need to do.

Could be your fuel filter needs changed. Will your truck go over 2000 RPMS?

Ok got that part figured out so most likely I need injectors got that. Now next thing what can I do about the water in the fuel light should I drop the tank and drain it and clean it ?? No matter what I'm changing the fuel filter, but I really don't feel like dropping the tank especially since it's full lol and is there a reason why your sensor wires are snipped for your sensor ??

There should be small plug on the larger water sensor on the fuel filter that you can loosen to drain any water out of the filter. But i would just change the filter and most people just delete that sensor with a billet plug they are like 30 bucks from merchant auto. My trucks sensor said i had water in my fuel and it never did so i deleted it.

Ok and I know what plug your talking about so most likely I'll just delete it and buy that plug for the fuel filter cause I pulled the drain plug on the filter and stuff did come out but it looked more like fuel then anything cause most the diesel I buy is green and it was green when it came out

Yes it will like if you set in park and Rev it up it will redline if you want it to it only does it while driving

sorry i meant will it go over 2000 rpms while driving?

Also is Napa injectors good ones cause I get 50% off at Napa on parts

I have never heard of anyone running injectors from napa and didnt know they even sold them for duramaxs. I wouldnt chance it but maybe someone else will chime in on that. I have never personally bought injectors from brent at LDS but i know people that have and see on the forum how happy people are with his customer service so i would definitely recommend going that route.
