Is there a way to de cock these guns or do you just have to pull the clip and eject the round or do you just carry it around cocked and locked? I have been really looking at the XD but don't know much about hand guns. :)

I believe the XD is more or less a "single action" striker fired action (no hammer/firing pin). Meaning the trigger has no means to both cock and fire the striker. The slide cocks it and the trigger releases it. So without racking the slide (or cycling it by firing it), you can not cock it. Hence no decocker on the gun. Also no second strike capability for the same reason.

A decocker is used on a DA/SA auto to block the firing pin, while releasing the hammer to an uncocked position, making the next shot DA.

Yep. Once you chamber a round, all you have to do is pull the trigger.

And I agree about carrying with one chambered. You normally just don't have time to rack one in, or if you are injured you probably wont have the strength to put the slide for one.

Why do so many people here carry guns? Rough part of town? I have many guns but never carry them.

Cause a I can't afford a cop.....:thumb: Cause when seconds count the cops are only minutes away.....cause I live in NY and feel that if I don't exercise my rights some politician will think I don't need them. cause I don't ever want to have to defend my life, but I would at least like the chance to make that decision.

Cause I live in the boondocks and if this http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,587732,00.html happened at my house no one would even hear the shots.

Ya know lots of reasons.

The XD and XDm both seem like really cool weapon systems.

There are so many options in the polymer frame pistol market these days. I like the Springfield's, but I just don't see myself owning one only because it's hard to step away from the Glock's and H&K's. I also like the S&W MP series, just can't justify another platform.

I do have plans to try out a Kahr PM40 this spring, to replace the G27 for summer carry.

I have shot glocks and really the only major difference between a glock and an XD is grip angle and trigger feel. The XD has a higher bore also but no more so than a 1911 or Sig, so maybe the glock as a low bore height....anyway as much as people like to debate the glock/XD war I really don't see a HUGE difference.

Personal preference. They both go bang every time.

I have an XDm 9mm. So far no problems at all, it's a great weapon for sure and I have no regrets at all from going with the XDm. I'm going to get a 40 sometime in the future but don't know if I'll go with another Springfield or something different this time.

I carry a Taurus Millenium Pro PT145 as it's easier to conceal. It's supposedly the smallest sub com .45 out there or at least it was when I bought it. They've probably got something smaller out by now though.

no de-cock on the xds. they do have two forms of a safety though which i like. there is the safety on the trigger like the glocks but there is also a grip safety. so, unless you have the piece in your hand ready to fire it is quite challenging to set off a round.

love my xds. my favorite is the .40 sub compact silver and black.

I've got a 5" XD .40 but its kinda hard to conceal. I'm looking into a 3.8 or 4" XDm for my next CC choice.
