Is that where they normally break? I cant believe I got 2 on the same side that close apart. When I put the new one on last night though, it felt like it was almost 1/2" to 1" too short. I had a hell of a time getting the bolts started into the diff. I'll find out more TUESDAY. I'm going to have to miss the race tomorrow (no-one around here is open on Sundays).

My only shot is if there is any chance that the CV on my '94 1-ton diesel is the same. They look the same while the one is still installed, but I wish I knew for sure. GMPartsdirect's catalog is down so I cant compare part numbers. Anyone know if they are the same?

The only way that I know of that will help broken axle syndrome is to slam that front end to the ground. If the CV's have any kind of angle on them they will likely break with your kind of power.

I think I'm just going to stick with 4-hi.

So does anyone know if the older (94) 1-ton axles are the same? They really look the same to me....

Not gonna work. I looked at 2 different parts places and they are different part #'s.
I really think they gave me one for the wrong side last time....

I cant race in 4-hi either.... :(

Why would you race in 4lo ?

Mud Drag Races. The tracks are only 150-160 feet long full of mud.

That was from a couple of weeks ago---I dont want to post any of me losing!

Got my Azz whipped again today but running 4-hi this time. I robbed a CV joint from the old man's pickup (which I havnt told him about yet :) ) and got to run stock class and still got whipped up on. At least I had a good time!

No I wasnt. I just left it alone. I was going to drop it for yesterday but left in such a hurry I forgot to throw in the floor jack...:(
Most of the people I raced against only have 3 springs in the rear and their front end is a lot higher than their rear ends so I thought I would be OK. Next time I AM going to drop the torsion bars and try running in 4-lo again. I was getting beat out of the hole so bad yesterday it wasnt even funny. The track was very tacky and those guys with super swampers got a hell of a jump on me. I was pulling hard on them on the last 1/2 though.
There was a lot of breakage yesterday. More than I have ever seen at these races. 4 drive shafts grenaded (the rears would go out first, then the fronts---two of them sent the front shaft right through the front diff!) then there was one truck that I'm not sure what happended for sure but his traction bar on the passenger side ended up bent into a 90! I think his springs wrapped up and then popped.
