What does this mean? I sprayed water over the condenser to help flush and then the ac came on for about 20mins. Then it shut off unless I put more water over it. Help please?

Fan clutch is bad or the cooling stack Is plugged up.

We are probably gonna need some more info about the symptoms too.

like it wasn't working at all and then came on? or it was blowing hot and then you sprayed water and it started blowing cold?

Well I have checked everything in the ac system. Changed out switches high low ambient temp switch. System only comes on if it is cold outside around 65 or below or it will come on if I put water over the condenser. The truck temp and trams temp is all normal.

Does the ac work running down the road? If so replace the fan clutch and clean the cooling stack at the same time.

I wonder if the ambient temp sensor has anything to do it

We need to know what the pressures are at 2k RPM, in park, a/c on max and blower on max as well as ambient temp

The ambient temp is 85. I had the system vacuumed and recharged. All pressure levels read right where they should be. No it doesn't not work driving down the road unless I wet the condenser first the drive it will last about 30 mins.

If the fan clutch was bad wouldn't the truck over heat?

not necessarily.. . fan clutches do wear out.. the engaging temp at which the fan comes on slowly rises... most noticeable is hot days at idle or low speeds... AC sucks truck gets sluggish and lethargic..

the fan at idle should move enough air to hold a 8x11 sheet of paper against the condenser... I have a after market clutch.. this is a 4x6 piece of paper at idle.

I would start with checking the cooling stack.. making sure its clean.. I prefer using pressure washer with a wide fan tip. running the tip parallel to the fins as to not bend them...
air is another viable method to cleaning each cooler out..

amazon has a hadyen 2886 fan clutch for ~100.00 to your door. I run it(actually wore one out on my hotshot) couple others run it and and like it. drop in replacement.

Does your temp on the rear view mirror say the correct temp that it is outside?

Sounds like it could be over filled.

And Joe, the low side pressure is directly related to the ambient temperature.

Mine wouldn't work for crap. Checked low pressure side. Way over filled, almost 100psi. I bled it down to 40 it works great now. Maybe yours is over filled
