I kinda looked at electric pumps. But i wasn't sure how to rig it up. Looks like most have built in valve guess cause they have button controller attached

Yes I will use a single end cylinder in the damper. Prolly beef it up. So if I keep the steering box, will my cylinder stop when that stops? Cause I don't like the idea of having a stop for the rod, rather just dead head it to keep it strong

It stops when the steering box stops, or the truck is on the steering stops whichever is first.

Basically the ram only moves when you turn the wheel.

I have had a boosted steering setup on my truck for some 8 years now. Originally it was to handle the huge tires I was running. While backing up with the trailer, you couldn't get the front wheels to move. With the assist, no issues in that regard.

However, the steering is a little sluggish. I never upgraded the pump to make up for the additional demand. So I can run out of steering power on quick steering movements.

My steering box is tapped to accept hydraulic lines to an assist cylinder. The assist cylinder replaces the stock steering dampener.

I did some custom mounts on the center link and front cross member to make sure the loads on the link were centered.

Really, it wasn't a difficult project.

I used a rock ram from AGR Steering and a ported box on my 56 and have been planing to do the same to my 06. For the 06 plan is to use a Kryptonite solid center link and mount the ram much like the stock steering stabilizer. This setup is just what Fingers did. My 56 is a two ton 6100 Chevy dump truck with modernized power steering and a 496 big block stroker and this system works great to turn the 10.00x22.5 with 7 tons of rock in the bed using a saginaw box from an International Scout.:thumb:

Okay. Just say I go with full hydrostatic. I think it would be dumb to keep the ps pump on taking belt drive. So what would I need to do with my brakes
