I really like the 66/71's they drive dang near like stock with the right converter, make good power and egts arent crazy with a single pump! I like the 14 cast housing, really dont know the advantages of the SS housing are worth it.

i talked with a well reknown turbo guy and he did mention that the 66/71 HTT was having some trouble do to the extra drive pressure the smaller wheel(71MM)created so they(the guy i spoke to)enlarged it to a 74MM and took care of the problem! just some FYI i have gathered since i'm in the same boat,looking for a good comp turbo but also a DD without breaking the bank! the HTT 66/71 with a 14CM housing is def one that was at the top of the list for me!

IMO unless you are going to get the stainless housing there is no reason to get it through HTT. I can get you an S300 with 66mm compressor, 71mm turbine (exducer), and 14mm cast turbine housing for a a lot cheaper straight from Bullseye Power (who supplies HTT) than I can through HTT.

I dont think D/P would be an issue with the stainless housing and the 71mm , the cast housing yes . the stainless housing has 4 times the gating as the cast .

cast = 2 - 5/8" wastegate ports
stainless housing = 2- 1" wastegate ports .

with the stainless housing i had to crank my gate waaaay tight just to tighten the exhaust flow enough to even out boost between the 2 turbo's , the exhaust flow between the two is not even comparable .

Can a 13cm SS housing be had for a 80/74 turbine wheel?

I would imagine , because of HTT's " SLED PULLER " Turbo is a 74mm exducer also i would think the would carry it ?

makes perfect sense,i didnt ask him about the SS housing! thanks for that info! i've been learning alot about turbos the last few days but i still have a long ways to go! my head hurts.

I have the II 66/74 turbo. It isn't laggy at all. You do have to run more fuel to drive it though. It has a 14 housing on it now but I ordered the 16 stainless housing. I will be able to report back in the next couple weeks on the real advantages/ differences between the two. I also had the BD before which is a 64/71 turbo. The 66/74 is a far better turbo combonation than the 64/71. I do pull a good bit and it is a DD. Towing is good. The only thing about my current setup is DP and moderate acceleration egt. I just am not fond of how those numbers fall. In a single turbo DD the 66 will ultimately make you happier. Speed is addictive and you probably will want to go bigger later.

I have a 66/16 SS that I got from Pat. It is still in the box, and I am planning on installing over the Thanksgiving Holiday.

PM Kat and talk to her, they are VERY reasonably priced at McRat Racing. There are benefits from buying from McRat.:D
