One day in the future I will be buying either an S300 or S400 kit, not quite sure yet.

From what I understand, the kit comes with an intake.

Are these intakes necessarily better than your standard aftermarket one like S&B? Are these kits mandatory? Or do they just make things easier when it comes to installing the turbo?

Buying a kit/turbo is a long ways away from now, so im just curious.

The intakes are all pretty standard. Its nice to buy the "kit", because you get matching powdercoat color, an intake that you know will fit, and a nice filter set up.

There is no aftermarket that works with the s400 or s300 without modifications. Don't skip out. Just buy the whole kit. Less head aches that way

That is not quite true. My Banks intake worked when I installed my HTT366 as a single. I had to cut the intake horn that came with the HTT kit, but I think that was the intent with the HTT kit anyway.

Lol multiple opinions. I'm going to buy the whole kit anyway, its just ridiculous that the intakes themselves are close to 400 dollars if not more.

The reason I'm asking is because I'm currently running an LMM intake on my LLY and have thought about buying an S&B intake to replace it, but I dont want to spend that money on an intake if I'm just going to get a new intake when I buy the HSP kit

Some kits allow you to retain a factory style intake setup, but on an LLY we would use an LB7 style bridge with coldside to allow the intake to run behind the alternator. The intakes can get pricey as they are one piece-mandrel bent 4 and 5" tubes.

Yeah, thats what I've heard from a few others before. I will most likely buy the entire kit at some point. I was just unsure if it was mandatory or if it was just a case of being optimal
