I remember when I was in my earlier teens a bunch of the kids at our boarding school somehow managed to get one. Seemed all of them crashed it or flipped over because they couldn't understand the single front wheel issue. Only one other close friend and I never had any issues. Fun times

Not too unlike this

James. Just getting my toy buttoned up. Just need to do some small things to her. On our way back from the dunes today. I love 400exs but I'm a 2 stroke weirdo.

That thing is clean! I’m a 250r nut too but I have a soft spot for the 88-89 Honda’s. I tried like hell to find my old 89 (got sold to a few friends through the years before it disappeared). Then started looking at just used ones and it was slim pickings. Guys wanted 4k for not so nice semi stock ones or they were beat to hell.

I love a clean 3 wheeler or 4 wheeler 250r. What’s done engine wise? Love 310s or 330s with power valves. I road a 350 with power valve once and it felt just like a lt500 down low. Torquey as hell

I still have my first bike from when I was maybe 7 or 8. 1980 YZ50. It has a clutch with 5 gears and definitely can move around an adult!

All the older bikes/quads/3 wheelers are getting very hard to find. Europe is buying them up like crazy and the parts to go with them. OEM plastics are non existent and engine/chassis parts are hit or miss on eBay when someone parts out a bike.

I use to race them years ago. Always preferred the 86 even though the 88/89 look better. Mine currently has a 295 bore on stock cylinder. Waiting on Duncan to get more cylinders in then I'll go with a 305 powervalve.

Mike. It has a +4 swing arm. I dont drag race it. Enjoy climbing the dunes and trail riding.

Also James I have a brand new missle kit sitting in the garage for when I find another decent R. :)

Ne-max you have stolen my heart. I love those old Honda’s. I’ve always wanted to find a Kawi Tecate 3 or 4 and a KX500 to tinker with.

Wife hasn't been feeling well last few days and little girl has a cough. I've felt a little off too and maybe our boy. Wife woke me up at 12:00 with chills and a low grade fever. It's got me stressed out. I don't care if it's the Covid, but our lives have been flipped on end for 6 months already. My boy got Strep back then and we are still dealing with significant side affects. I'm still going to try and go about my life as much as I can without spreading it. Damn guess I'll end up wearing a mask after all.

it seemed the 88-89 worked nicer in the desert and thats what everyone went after here. MX the 86 just seemed to work better.

i dont know how you will keep that front end down on a 305 and powervalve

friend of mine just finished a missile kit on an 85 he had. you guys are nuts.

Sorry to hear, on a plus side, if it is covid19 then at least you can be comforted in knowing you and your family will now be immune to it once you all get better and don't have to worry about it anymore

Remember the old bumper stickers...2 strokes truck, 4 strokes suck
I had a 89 250r for a few years. Something snapped on the inside and then just got rid of it after that. One day I’d like to have another one and swap in a cr500 engine.

I feel sorry for you 400ex guys stuck in the last century  I rode one for years ( was my brothers actually ) but my z400 with a 39mm carb would wax his 400ex with a cam and a 426 bore.

As for the Rona, our company gave us two weeks off and I was planning to epoxy my shop floor. But the stuff I ordered a month ago couldn't ship for "hazmat reasons"

you are 100% right. but im a honda nut and this is about as low maintenance, easy put around bike as you can get with some get up still :roflmao:. It does have a nice 440 kit (not the cheap ebay crap), hot cams stg 2 and i put a uni air filter on it and changed the lame loud ass white brothers e series out for a quiet Lexon chinese muffler. still on the stock crappy carb but re-jetted it and dropped the front sprocket from a 15 to a 13. she puts around real nice now :D :roflmao:. reminds me of my dads old 350x

They do run well, I wish they were at least liquid cooled and had reverse much sooner than they did

If anyone's looking to step up to the seriously crazy level on the 2 or 4 stroke dune racers while in lockdown, this local guy I found to weld stainless tubing, is like the #1 go to guy in the nation for your super stretched titanium chassis needs.

Guess Banshee engines also still very popular in the sport. Something about bike weighing less than the rider.. Making low 4 second 1/8 mile passes on em.. OK your nuts... But he's also done some extra crazy Hayabusa and snow mobile powered setups.

I was just amazed that there is an actual market for "titanium" bike chassis, available with or without suspension. https://www.facebook.com/TurboChassis/

5 guys went on medical leave this morning, doesn't sound like alot but I think the rona has finally hit our already manpower strapped firehouse. The kung flu deaths in the battalion have gone down drastically, we had anywhere from 12-15 deaths per 24hr tour. When I left this morning it was only 6. It was pretty crazy watching the supply chain gain steam, truckers really do run the world.

i've been looking at a new yamaha 450 but i'm tempted to get a lonestar 250r frame and slowly build the quad I WANT. It would be very painful since I bleed blue:D My 230 blaster used to be fun back in the day. I've been out of the game so long i don't even know who is reputable anymore.
