Exactly, your comment has not a dam thing to do with what the OP is trying to find out, my first comment did!!! How did the OP know some Yahoo like yourself swaps TCM's at the track! Maybe in your case it doesn't need relearning, just ask your tuner he will tell you it does!!! like i said before, im just a Dummy!!!

Look who the OP is ;)

Not that you arent capable of building a trans, but would it really not be worth sending it off and see if someone can find what is wrong. Could have a bad case or something

Have you ever paid to ship something the size of a Allison to Alaska or from Alaska? I promise, you can go through a few clutches before you match the shipping price...

He is capable of figuring this out, just asking for any ideas... Hell, I bet we all might learn something.

It wouldn't be worth it. Way too much money. I like doing stuff myself anyway. I dont think it could have anything wrong with the case or something. I put alto clutches in it in 07 and it was flawless for 80k miles with 600+hp. Then built the motor and turned it up and it turned into a disaster.
I figured I'd ask people since this is the 6th time taking it out this year. Pistons, drum, seals, bearings, clutches, pressure switch all new. Only possibilities I think would be a bad pump or I'm not doing the necessary to hold the power I have available. That's why I started this thread to ask what other have done. It's not like it failed once and I got on here to ask what was wrong. I have gone through it numerous times with no luck.

How did I know some Yaywho like yourself would bring nothing meaningful to this thread.
I HAVE an 01 TCM that knows TRACK only that says RACE on it. I SWAP it out for the big tunes at the track. All it knows is wide open.

That is the best way with switching TCM's out. Running only in tow/haul helps out a lot too.

Swapping TCM's still doesn't guarantee that your TAPS and clutch volumes will be dead on. The only way for it to know clutch volumes and TAPS is to run it with that TCM until it is learned, then don't drive it anymore. If your race TCM has learned bad clutch volumes or taps, then it will just continue to destroy clutches. The 6 speed front assembly does have a slightly larger C1 apply piston, but the C2 apply piston is smaller. I have an extra 6 speed C1/C2 drum out in the shop as I took it out and went back to a modified 5 speed one as it shifts much better for me.

Running in TH drops pressure 100psi as soon as the converter clutch hits. Pump needs to be modified to keep constant prssure.

knockdown has absolutely nothing to do with the tcm..............

So why in TH mode?

Edit: I read Mike's post to say that only in tow haul it will drop 100psi because of the converter locking. That's just how it was worded, to me, and I think others saw it that way too? It didnt make much sense.
