I have never been but plan to several times this year. Since I've never been, how does it all go down? Walk me through the steps from waiting in line through exiting the other end of the track.

Thanks.

Here is what Pat posted on the DP... Int he Drag Forum...

McRat Techinique!!!

I've found the most repeatable #'s are when you courtesy stage.

1) Turn on Tow Haul
2) Turn on 4WD HIGH
3) Drive around the water
4) Creep up in a perfectly straight line centered in the rubber stains.
5) Trip top prestage light, but not the second prestage light.
6) Wait for the other guy to trip their top prestage, if they have not already.
7) Spool up to 2100rpm by holding the brake down hard and giving it some fuel.
8) Keep your throttle foot in the same position, but ease the brake to creep forward.
9) Creep until you light the second prestage and hold the brake. Stay at 2100.
10) Stare HARD at the 3rd yellow. Nothing else in the universe exists. Try to turn it on with your mind.
11) The INSTANT the third yellow comes on, mat the throttle, and release the brake.
12) If it goes into wheelhop, back down to 1/2 throttle and nail it again. On the next pass leave at 100rpm less. If it bogs, go up 100rpm.
13) Watch your gauges. Watch loose crap fly around the cabin.
14) At half track push 2WD so you don't forget. It will not disengage until you lift.
15) Keep the pedal buried until you are past the last set of beams. You have plenty of room, so it's better to stay in it than lift too early.
16) Hit the brakes, reduce your speed down to 20mph.
17) The driver that is in the lane where the turnout roads are has RIGHT OF WAY. If you are not in that lane, wait for them to turn out. DO NOT CROSS ACROSS ANOTHER RACER'S LANE UNLESS YOU KNOW THEY HAVE LEFT THE TRACK!!
18) Drive slow on the return road. This does 2 things. It keeps you from getting banned from the track, and it cools your turbo.
19) Pick up your slip and stick it in your console. Do not read it while driving.
20) Rinse and repeat.

Courtesy staging is opposed to staging BOTH of your lights before the other vehicle has even set one, right?

Is that 2100rpm rule consistant with a stock charger truck as well?

How easy is it to setup that "trick" with the cruise and EFI Live so that you stage EXACTLY the same everytime? I think Max Payne came up with it on TDP? Seems like a REALLY good idea.

I know I didn't ask it in my initial question but is this the correct truck setup?:
torsion bars cranked all the way down, about 30psi in tires, spring clamps if you got them, or traction bars. Is there anything else? Should I remove my headlight (I have a cheap air intake system)?

I am going to a bracket racing event this coming Sun. and have decided not to enter due to my inexperience but I do want to give it a go some this year.

Thanks for the help. I have searched TDP and have gained a lot of info. from doing so. I just wanted to see if anyone on here did some things different. Plus its a smaller group here and more likely to get more attention. ;)

One thing is. Make sure all the stuff is out of your truck esp. the bed. They will not let you run with loose stuff back there.

We pull the headlights on the LLY & LB7's. I'm not sure it does anything for the 06 but is habit now and Wendy doesn't want to feel left out :D

Any track-etiquette things to know besides the courtesy-staging and letting the vehicle that is in the nearest lane to the exit out first???

abide by the 5 to 15 mph pit speed limit ( depending on the track)after your pass. I almost crushed several ricers that were darting from inbetween parked vehicles like squirrels. nothing would ruin a great pass like having a honda wedged up under your front bumper

That brings up something else.... I takeit the AC needs to be turned off probably before you even get there, right? :D The "pants" thing made me think of this. I bet it gets scorching too!

Thanks everyone, keep them coming. This could prove to be a really good thread for beginners to read through.

Unless your body looks like Salma Hayek's, most men shouldn't wear tank tops...

Was that pointed towards me and the picture form Last Night????

I have to find a helmet for this weekend.. Although I don't plan to run anything faster than a 9.0 sec. 1/8th...

Are there any certain Helmets that are accepted??? Can you use a ATV/Motorcycle helmet???
