How much power will it hold?

Idk if that is really a budget build lol. I always thought the budget build was more like LBZ rods in an 01-05 or better pistons in a 06+ sounds like all you missed was the alt fire oversized cam. LOL my motor better have a lot more in it if you make 700 with 45's and a 375 and a stock cam LOL. I have a twin pump setup on the shelf to go over my 10MM Exergy 100's overs and the rest of my setup. made 790 but I'm sure theres a lot left.

Its not a stock cam. Its a Hamilton 2.6 cam. Lol

I dont really consider swapping stock pistons or rods to a different year a built motor. :)

No headwork, girdle, flywheel or dual pumps. I dont feel like I spent as much as I could have.

You definitely have more left in it.

Machine work and assembly plays a huge part in what lives and what's scrapped. I've had high dollar big name parts fail. Do a lot of research and plan on spending more then what's in the budget, all the little stuff at the end killed me at getting it on the road. And if it's a steet truck traction is my biggest problem. 4 wheel drive drifts at high speeds don't get you nowhere.

no kidding. I thought I was gonna get by for 15K and have it running. NOPE wrong sorry 25K and it fired lol. Yeah see I don't have traction problems really even in 2wd. it will break loose at 60 but not haze the tires off.

It will take 1 hp less than what it takes to break.

Now that Im done being a smartass, you really should be asking, "How much power do I want to make?" and then overbuilding the engine based on that, because chances are pretty good you'll want to go over that number later on.

Or in my luck what new part will kill the rest

I ain't no mechanic, but from what I've learned over the coarse of the years is.. I bought the mid range power parts, and am building a good solid lower end. BN crank af cam, new oil pump, all keyed, bee hive springs, lift pump,30% exergys, sportsman exegry pump, hsp 366 Install kit with silver bullet 366, and damn good tuning... Via Bob Olson. We will see where hp is when he retunes it... But wait.. Budget build...huh!? I didn't think that is a part of the equation... YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!!!!! Trust me I know... Decide what you wanna do with the truck and go from there. If your that far down, build a decent short block with GOOD parts and the rest is "cosmetic"

IMO a budget build is a stock motor with aftermarket rods/pistons/springs/keyways, and should hold 700hp reliably with moderate EGTs, and should handle higher HP on a few track visits.

At that power level a single VGT can be run, you don't need a cam OR ported heads, and you don't need that extra $3k in billet trans parts :D

Best saying ever. If you can't afford to do it right the first time you can't afford to do it twice. It does get to the point of where do you stop. But also only you know what you can realistically afford for power.
