Not sure where to post this but I was wondering if anyone had any accurate #'s to tell me how much power I am losing at 7000ft. where I live vs. Sea level...I know when I go down South and get closer to 4000 ft. I can feel a difference.
Thanks.

dragtimes.com has a calculator to figure the hp loss for a particular density altitude. I use the turbocharged engine part. I have no idea how accurate it is but its cool to see how much it affects it

Brian that is no excuse... to run that slow. :D Fact is elevation greatly affects horsepower.
Can i use that as a excuse :D , I have always raced at high elevation ,the day i ran 11.0 it was a D/A of 7200 ft :D .

to the OP on turbo diesels from my experience the more air / turbo you have the lesser the affect . with my old twins i figured i was only loosing a couple .10's on a single cp3 , untill i cranked the fuel way up and then i was probably loosing more. A stock turbo / tuned truck will be affected alot by altitude not sure on a % though . Hopefully i can hit up truck fest or even my own track and will know the diff between AZ and the higher altitudes .

All I know is when I pull my big enclosed trailor full of snowmobiles up to the mountains once I start getting into elevation my truck feels like a TURD!

yea its a big difference in NA engines over charged ones....riding my bike through the mountains it takes a big power toll...the truck dogs a little but not too bad really.

and i live at sea level so im used to nice dense air :D

Typicaly ever racer will loose a half second in the 1/4. You can try to tune for the reduced air which is a bit easier with a supercharger (overdrive) but you will feel the difference. Weather will also play a big part of the adjusted elevation factor, dry and hot will really be tough.
