Had to :stirthepot: :angel:

My cousin bought a 2012 900 RZR XP and I bought a 2012 Can Am Commander 1000 Limited at the same time. The RZR is a nice machine, only reason I got a Commander was I needed something with more room wifey has to bring all the dogs and everything else when we go together but it still has nuts and is sporty enough to rip around pretty good.

I've got a 2011 RZR 900. I've had my fair share of first year problems. Polaris likes to update things and not publish a bulletin.

The ol' Canam doing work! I build these rotax motors, incredible engines! That burm is coming out of a corner and jumping into 4' of water to make another corner and hit the straight away with 3 big burms and plenty of speed! low gear is 62mph and high gear is 100+ if you feel ballsy.

I sell them as well as ride them, I have a 2012 RZR XP. Been playing with some suspension settings today actually. Apparently I'm too stupid to know better on two counts according to one guy here.. :thumb:

Lmao. Only way a person could say a polaris isnt the best machine made would have to be talkin about sleds. Cause when it comes to atvs or utvs polaris has been leaders for 10+ yrs. Many are tryin to copy and catch up. Can am is the only one close but still has along way to go.

What i think is funny, 10yrs ago everyone said polaris was junk, there belt driven. No whats everyone running? Lol

They got a good system, i just dont like how quick the primary clutch wears out. specially if you do lots of dune riding. And at 300-400 bucks a year jsut for a primary clutch and a new secondary spring, they aint cheap. Thats really my only gripe over the polaris system. the rhino wet clutch system is a good idea but thats about as far as ill go with that. i lost too many races over their dumb design.

Can some one that knows more than me tell me the differences between the can am and the rzr Thinking of buying one next week. Do they make a crew can am. Longevity also. It will end up being used for work

Well the 900 XP is wider(seems more stabil) than the can am, razor is more sporty for jumps, suspension ect... More top end speed Can Am is governed at 74. Razor has very little space for storage plus it's on top of the engine. Not sure on problems need more input from Razor owners



Can Am depending witch one you get for options, is more versatile for using it to put stuff in, dump bed, also extra cargo space under bed, most comfortable interior (my opinion), drivers seat is adjustable like a car for moveing forward and back, still sporty, 1000 has good power, 10 gallon gas tank, fits in a long bed full size bed at least mine 2010 3500 Chev,
For problems, forums say tie rods, diffs, now I have 1200 miles on mine no problems but it does have a loud drivetrain think it's the rear diff or tranny. Can ams have a fly by wire throttle and there is not mutch out for mods yet tuning options are not that great just a few fuel boxes, also can am has a shaft saver that makes it hard to do donuts since it closes the throttle and lots of people roll them trying since they cut the throttle on some wheel spin situations like when the tires leave the ground and engine instantly revs. There are boxes to eliminate this though.
2013 can ams have power stearing finaly plus a new front diff(quick engage)
Supposedly Can Am has something new coming not sure yet I would hold off for a bit, plus early release models always more $$$$$ 2013's are hitting the dealers now.

Better go look at both, read some forums, and see if they will let you test drive them before you decide, I like mine both have there goods and bads. Good luck let us know what you get.

Stability it a big concern. It will end up in the mountains of west Virginia. I will go test both of them this next week but from what you have said I'm leaning more towards the rzr

Don't waist your time looking at 800's get a 900 XP unless you have width concerns they are pretty wide.

Same on Can Ams the 1000's in the X model and the Limited are the nicest.

Creature comforts of the commander are much better than the RZR.

The RZR 50" and commander would be a good suspension comparison. The rzr S and XP both have much better suspensions than the commander but it depends on your riding style whether you need it or not.

The visco lock ( likes to be under heavy throttle to engage) on the Canam is not good for technical riding in the commander. It works fine in the atv's because you can use body English, but its tough in the SxS. RZR wins here for sure

If you are just cruising around for scenery, I'd get the commander. Sooooo comfortable and the rotax Vtwin is a beast!

If you are rock crawling or doing any other technical riding in the mountains I would suggest the RZR S or XP for the true 4wd and suspension.
