I made a couple passes at the track yesterday and on my third run I spooled at the line bumped the stage light and sat their for 5 seconds at 2350rpm according to my log. Looking at the video the jackass running the lights was trying to get away from the soot and I guess forgot to trigger the lights. Well I launched and nothing. Just reved up?? Figured my converter was toast. 3rd pass on it and 400 miles. I went to go home and as long as I didn't get into it too hard it wouldnt slip.
About 20 miles away from the track on my long journey home limp mode for stuck E shift solonoid. Stuck in 5th though??
So now Im guessing maybe my c1 clutches are shot since they are used in all the forward gears except 5th? The run before I lifted when it shifted funny into 5th and coasted a 12.5@90MPH lol.

I don't know about the E shift valve code and the C1 clutch pack correlation, but im not an expert. I have limped 5th gear a few different times in different situations. first time was making a WOT run a few weeks ago in 2wd at about 750hp...bad idea especially with a grizzly locker. losing and gaining traction, roasting the tires, twisted my p2 planet splines and smoked c1 and c2 clutch packs. I tore it down a few days later, then left for the DPC with a new converter from Phil Taylor instead of my 1055 (which was awesome with my S475 but not this S482). First day there, had the o ring on the reverse circuit of the pressure switch manifold blow out and limp me in 3rd. it was also throwing e-shift valve codes though, and so we originally thought low fluid level. It was a bit low, but it didnt fix our problem so we went looking at the pressure switch manifold. During the 150 mile drive on thursday, I was using the 4th gear lockout button religiously, and twice when I tried to force unlock the converter and shift from 5-4 below 1500rpms, it limped me in 5th...it didnt even try to downshift. It also threw a e-shift valve code...weird right? trans fluid level was good, temps good, shifting great otherwise. We werent sure what had caused it at first until we had turned around and headed back towards Eisenhower Tunnel and I tried the lockout switch again, below 1500 rpms, and sure enough it limped 5th again. No idea why. I am running a 01 tcm. Halfway through the day on wednesday, after the 1/4 mile passes, when I went to hook up to the trailer for the 1/8mile, I couldnt get more than 2000 rpms on the line and couldnt spool for the life of me. since then, the trans shifts and drives normal, even under WOT, but it couples at 2300 rpms now instead of 26-2700 like it did monday through wednesday morning. Phil is going to look at it for me once I can get it out to him. He's a good dude. we are just baffled as to why all these event took place.

Tore the trans apart and I smoked my C'1s and the rotating drum is hammered from the C-2 steels.
George at Suncoast really helped me out on this one. He's sending me a new drum, seals, pistons and everything in the rotating assembly for a hell of a deal.
So I guess it wasnt my converter. Thnaks guys.

What were you doing when this happened? Spooling the turbo?
I’m a full retard when it comes to the ally, I really need to get smart on it

The 1057 did not like to be held on the line spooling very long. Problem may have been resolved.

Ok Ill watch doing that. I leave the line at a lower RPM and don't need much to spool. Mike is there something out there I can sit down and read to not be a retard when it comes to the ally? I don't want to be an expert but I need/want to know more about it

And sorry for the hijack

And thanks to google I found the ATSG figure it should be a good start
