Anyone have instructions on how to test pressure or know what Trent used to do builds? He said mine was done exactly the same as the one in his truck that ran 11.0.

Good thing yours is a 5 speed...Trent never had the chance to steal the 6 speed drum out of yours:rofl:

Don't believe anything Trent told you first off.

You can test mainline pressure using the port right beside the spin on filter. It's o-ring thread. Can't remember the size off hand though. Get a gauge that goes to 400 psi. Tape the gauge to the mirror, or the windshield.

Then go record you pressure.

Get warm idle, driving while converter unlocked, and driving while the converter is locked.

That will give a very good idea of what has been to not only the main pressure spring, but also the converter lockup valve.

Thanks for the info Iowa. So far it has been good for 35-40k miles but I keep it on lower tunes and don't beat it too hard.

So I was talking to a friend the other day and I'm curious what your thoughts are, Mike. My transmission builder didn't use a Tech 2 to relearn the trans. I can't remember the name of it, but it whiped my trans and did a fast learn. Now, could this be some of the trouble my transmission has trying to adapt quickly to the new bigger tunes? Should I go to my local dealership and have their Tech 2 do a complete relearn on the truck?

put a gauge on the truck to check line pressure. Converter unlocked yields 305-315psi, and when the converter locks its around 245-255psi.

Sound normal Mike?

We have the Transgo Converter valve. I'm guessing the check ball was installed which would cause this??

BTW; I called you and you mentioned how 255psi isn't enough, and I relayed all of this to my builder and took him for a drive. Its hard to tell how nice the shifts are because the thing breaks the tires loose. But he informed me that if I can break it he will fix it on his dollar. So, I guess we will find out how long the trans lasts. I have some fun stuff in mind ;)
