How hot before you start to see internal engine damage?

TX of course
Good advice abut changing the oil and coolant if its burnt. Lot of LLYs guys over heat that bad that tow really heavy. I wouldn't worry about it to much.

I wouldn't worry about the coolant. Unless you never changed it before.

Oil starts breaking down around 250 degrees. Synthetic around 270. So change that. Look at the transmission oil to see if it burned, also depending how long it's been since you changed it.

If you were going slow I doubt the diffs got too hot. But I'd also take a look at the transfer case.

Just seems like a good time to do a fluid flush and fill haha

Probably need to add a little clarity to the oil breakdown discussion.

Dino oils "breakdown" around 250°F is talking about the reduction in it's lubrication effectiveness. At 250° you are still getting nearly 100% of the published protection. From there up, you get less and less metal to metal protection. Synthetic hangs in there longer, but the amount varies from brand to brand.

Breakdown in this context does not mean the oil is turning to sludge or chemically changing. It is just not as effective as a lube.

The chemical changes happen at a much higher temp and in stages as the lighter components of the oil evaporate or start to oxidize and bind with other elements. Most oils are in excess of 400°F
