Break-in, Whats that? Oh,.... I'll bet it's seeing if you can break it before the credit card bill comes in...........:D

Brake Pad's and Piston rings are the only things that I ever considered some time before WFO. Actually, Piston rings seat pretty fast with a lot of cylinder pressure.

Drive it like you stole it.

Yep...I think I had 880 miles on the new jalopy when I met Pat at Westech to strap it down...I thought they break 'em in at the factory ;)

The SCIII didn't get any break-in time...

That's a good way to do it. Load the program you will use every day ( I run 500 hp ) and drive it easy as the shifts start to clear up drive it more aggressively and so on. The new trucks learn fast on their own.

thats what I did. Right after I put the trans back in the truck I reset the taps, did a fast learn, and drove off.

70,000 miles later (on the trans, 85k on the truck) its never missed a beat or given me any trouble.

Installed it and went to the track the next day

I had GM use the tech 2 and reset garage shifts and do a fast learn...not saying this is best....Its just what i did

I too after blowing up a built transmission the next time around I did things completely different.

I drove it stock for a week. Then I moved it up to a 120 HP tune and drove it 650 miles on a trip towing a light trailer.

I then put it on kill and left it there. So far so good. I believe you should really let things soak in before hammering it.

I ran my truck on a 215hp tune during break-in for about 200 miles before my first W.O.T pass. Then after about 300 more miles I bumped it up to a 350 tune and have been running it like I stole it for the last 3k with no problems. Track opens in another week so that will be the true test. Picked up my truck and the installer told me I should take it easy untill the shifts felt good. Pulled out of the driveway, and was easy on it to the stop sign. Trans was shifting perfect. Took a right turn and hammered it. Just started grinning ear to ear, and wished I had gotten the tranny done sooner!
