so after gettin EFI Live, intake, IAH deleted and new tires i was itchin to hit the track. WIth my PPE my fastest time was a 14.04. Well i went out last night with some cummins guys that met there and didnt realize there was an event goin on the next day so course it was packed.

Out of the 5 hours i was out there i only got 2 runs. First run was with 37s, with a 2.1 60ft i hit a 14.04 at 96mph again. So for the heck of it, my buddy had brought some 265s down and i threw them on. again with a 2.0 60ft i hit 13.9 at 97 mph. With the 265s the tranny really didnt like that nor did i launch very good as i wasnt sure how it would handle with the little tires.

I was figurin id be much lower than the 14.0 but with a race weight of 8k and bad bad start i think i did pretty well. Plus i think i was runnin out of fuel on the big end. at the top of third and fourth it felt like she was dyin out on me.

What do you guys think? id think if i brought my 60s down i could shave a few tenths off but im not sure, not the biggest drag racer. the bad 60s were my fault as i chopped the throttle when the light hit green so boost was gone on both runs. was focusin on too many things plus i kept tellin my self id only probably get two runs so i really pressurin myself lol

How did that tune feel compared to the other you had?

Also that 60ft could be cut a little. You got some weight and big tires but with the smaller tires you for sure should see a 1.7 to 1.8 60'....

You should be right about a mid 13 with your setup.

Any log files?

I think that time is pretty good considering you have a lifted Titanic.

You could probably shave some time with a better launch but that rig looks like it's gonna be more at home on dirt and rocks.

Some guys with you mods, minus the lift and off-road stuff, barely beat those times so that's pretty good considering.

I think a lot of people sell the PPE Hot +2 short. I helped PPE work on that tuner so that it would be the hardest hitting handheld out there. It's no slouch no matter what you read on the internet.

Your MPH is there for lower times, just need to get the first 300' down a little faster.
I ran 13.25 @ 100mph at 7500lbs on 35's so I would think you can likely get close to the same with your set-up.

I dont think he is selling the PPE short...He wanted to have dsp5 option, better data logging, and more refinement in the tune for his truck.

well with only bein able to get two runs in i didnt change the tune to the new one you gave me cuase then with me changin to the smaller tires i wouldnt have been able to tell what the difference was if any. I know an empty long strech of road where i can do some testing this week to see how the two compare.

Yeah i know i can cut my 60 more, it really was all me that caused the bad time. I didnt know how the little tires would react under the same conditions as when i had the 37s on so i kinda played it safe and didnt launch as hard, plus i chopped the damn throttle again.

Thats what i was thinkin but i think i may be runnin out of fuel on the big end and i think that may be where my hard 4th gear shift is comin from. No files logged, didnt even occure to me while we were out there to do that but when i do some testing this week ill get ya logs for sure

haha i know, shes a boat! but i know a few guys that have run better and are very comparable to me. Im not dissapointed as i know the slower time was mostly my own driving fault. She is very at home in the dirt but i just have this whole lifted sleeper thing goin on in my head that i jsut cant kill :D

Oh i know its a awesome tuner! For a box tuner i think its the best out there to buy, hell i recommend it to those out there startin out in the diesel performace side. I just figured that with EFI Live i could fine tune the truck better and squeeze all that i could out of it, plus the fact that i could check balance rates, pull out my IAH without settin codes, and have on the fly switching of 5 tunes with the DSP. The PPE is still my fav box tuner for sure

Were you launching in 4WD?

yes but launched bad due to my own self and not gettin comfortable in the seat if you know what i mean

Yeah i was thinkin so too. next time ill be pullin the spare, tool box and tools inside the bed tool box. should be a good 300-400 pounds to loose.

well thank you! id dont think the time is bad at all but i know there is more left in this old truck if i can drive it right lol, im jsut not happy with myslef more than anything.

oh trust me, i agree on goin to firebird. i didnt know there was an event at speedworld and teh fact i could only get two runs didnt help. I need to get a new front driveshaft first before i start doin any more runs at the track as i know its not likein the lift and startin to vib worse at the high speeds.

i'd say part of the shifting problem was going from the 37s to 265s. i'll bet the speedometer was incorrect and threw things for a loop.probably lost half a second atleast from the trans not shifting correctly

oh i know it was from the tire switch. I never gave the trans time to learn to shift quicker due to lighter unsprung weight and could run to the shift points much quicker

Rock paper scissors the winner drives :happy2:

Or.

I could drive Steves truck because he sucks at R/T

drives your truck? Im in lol. Yeah, think he and i should race and the winner will be determind on first to cross the line. I could probably run a 14 and still beat his sleepy ass :D

Yup! Twins are on. I have a feelin ill surpass 13.5 with a good launch but im keepin that as my goal, im mpre worried about rods now . Trent was tellin me the fellow on here with his twins and a straight axle kit up front ran a 13 flat in 2wd on the same tuning i got and a cp3 thats a bit better than mine. he also informed me that his block felt it needed more direct sunlight and made a window with a rod
