I'm fairly sure it started life as an 01-02 as we've talked with Kyle about what it took to switch it over to the newer front end.

no....kyle's personal truck is an 03....

big dipper had a strong running truck a while ago too. ;)

I remember back when mr magu's LLY was one of the first [publicly known] dmax's to throw a rod and blow up on video.

Big D was also big in the old days. He has lunched several motors. Also Team Hertz. Both guys were very good at blowing up LB7's

BIG DIPPER was one of the first guys to make big power back in '02 or '03. I believe he was running mid to low 12's back then but he doesn't talk about it.

Wow this has turned into a pretty good thread, I was always interested in the D-Max back when my dad ordered our 03 new back in mid 02 me and my buddy have followed it fairly closely back in the High School days of 02-04. But never knew much about the pioneers. Keep it comein:D

Where is Mr. Magu? Or have I been under a rock too long.

As for exact dyno numbers, I'm not sure. Going from memory, the publicity and spotlight were on Tomac for a long time. He may not have been the first or the most powerfull, but he got good press for the Duramax/Allison (which helped us all). Nick, Pat, Keith and others seemed to step it up a notch and pave the way for furthur improvement. I'm sure there were others and guys putting out some good HP, but these seemed to be the most "press notable" at least from memory. Also can't forget the guys helping keep the power contained (Mike L., Guy, etc) as without them the power would have been worthless.

I think it would be to hard to pick the first to a number as not every truck was dynoe'd and not every truck was on the internet. I don't care who it was, I'm just glad they took the chance and paved the way for the rest of us.
