The freedom we have is b/c our parents and grandparents didn't ask for a Fing handout, the stood up and accepted the possibility of full scale nuclear war, on the stance of freedom isn't free. Unfortunately they have done such a good job and secured the freedom for so long that our generation has forgotten the cost, and now we are paying for commercials in foreign countries condemning freedom of speech to appease terrorists and extremist. We got a small taste in 2001, but that was a few thousand people and 3 buildings....nothing compared to past wars. Not that I'm saying I don't grieve for every American that has lost his or her life, I have had several friends not come home.
But yet thousands of others wake up every day ready to do whatever (and I mean whatever) it takes to keep freedom free. Sorry for the rant, it pisses me off that so many Americans live in a dream world that we don’t need to protect our interest (and other’s freedom) from this stuff, and just throw money at everything to make it go away. (not saying aid programs are bad, I think many are very useful) but think about this the next time the words “well to be fair I think the government should do this for me” or “I deserve this” come out of your mouth, ask yourself if this is true (and it might be). Maybe it isn’t the government’s job to make your life better-but rather accept responsibility and do it yourself.
And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country
Sorry for the rant, I will stop now
