So i'm saving for efi live soon, and i want to tune the truck to its max potential, going to try and make some tunes myself. But my question is, is it bad to rev an a duramax, lb7 more specifically, up to 4k or even close to 5k rpm to gain more horse power with less torque? i want to save my stock bottom end and iv read that torque is the ultimate killer. So theoretically i want to raise the peak rpm between 4k and 5k for more horse power and less torque. I'm still learning and i want to know if their are any major disadvantages of high rpms and why i shouldn't do it?

Lots of info on this. 4k on a stocker is all you will want\need. I'm no tuner though I'm sure they can chime in about help with that

If your still running the stock turbo leave the shift points alone.. You won't see much benefits from higher shift points and will cause higher egts and drive pressures.

So about 4k max is where im at with my stock parts? I'm planning on getting bigger injectors later this summer, i forgot to mention that. i was thinking either 60's or just go all out and go for 100's, any recommendations with that in mind?

Over 3600 and the stock turbo is running out of steam.

IMO your jumping the gun here unless you got a pile of $$$ to trow at this truck. Slow down and read new and old threads to start slowly building your knowledge. I have seen 2 of your threads in 5 mins and in one your taking about low rpms for mileage the next your talking about turning 4-5k and 100 over injectors. Yet no mention of what the purpose of the truck will be or your power goals.

purpose of truck: daily driver

power goals: 500-600 hp range (for now)
