I was getting around 25 mpg with my 06 rc/lb automatic in the summer going to work. But when i would take it easy I've seen as high as 28, but that wasn't very often lol.

I have seen 25mpg highway during the summer hand calculated w/ gps. 4x4, extra cab on 265's. Not exceeding 65mph and accelerating gently etc. Normally I get a few less than this....

Usually see around 23 at best highway during the winter between the fuel and long warm ups. 21-22 most of the time...

City driving of course knocks it down a little....

I don't think you need to really go nuts with frame shortening etc. to pull off good mileage (not that it wouldn't make for a cool truck!). Just keeping smaller tires, the right mods and tuning and not exceeding 65-70 will get you there IMO.

I get about 15 mpg's average on a race tune and don't really give two shits, if I wanted to get awesome mileage i would go buy a datsun or a honda.

although i have always wanted a 2wd reg cab lowered just to cruise. Would be a fun little truck. :)

I likely wouldn't have bought my VW Jetta TDI if my 02 ec/sb 4x4 got mid-20 MPG like some of these guys are reporting. I do 75% continuous speed driving. 50% at 70-72mph, 25% at 55-60mph the rest mixed. You see my average in my sig. Blah.

I drove guy tripp's work truck for about 2 weeks. It was an 02RC/LB with 280,000 on the clock and an unknown (to me) tune in it.it got about 24 MPG highway hand calculated. Truck was stock minus the tune. It spun about 500 RPM's less than mine. ~1550@65-70mph. So I'm guessing 4.10 gears?

I don't know how you guys get over 20mpg. Even with my stock pyo's and 245's I never saw above 18.5mpg stock. With a milage tune and cruse set at 65 I barely get 20mpg on flat land interstate. Most of my driving is interstate and about 18.5 is all I get hand calculated. I've tried a Hypercrap, Predator and now efi and the mileage stays the same. :(

They most likely only check their mpg once in a great while on a long trip, not every fill up. I check mine every fill up and average 14.17 (not trying:D)

I'm sure I'll get flamed for this and have already in the past but I think slightly bigger tires improves milage a bit. They raise the final gear ratio. I check mine every fill up, I have an app on my phone that keeps up with milage and fuel ups. I have about a 70/30 split of highway/city driving and my average mpg is always between 18.5 and 20 mpg. And that is what I'd call normal driving at speeds anywhere from 30 to 70 mph. I romp on it usually a couple times a day just because I can, and I love the feeling and sound. I'm sure if I tried and behaved myself I could see close to the 26 that carfryer talks about on a flat highway at a constant 65mph. But I never go that slow on the interstate, usually i run between 80 and 90. And even then I get around 17-18 mpg. I do most of my driving on bobos hot economy tune.

Take it easy big shooter!:thumb: All i am saying is your first post made it sound like you got 26mpg all the time then the last post said you average less 20 to 22. I have no doubt you got 26mpg one time with prime conditions, but don't come on here making it sound like you get 26 all the time and then get pissed when you get called out!

All you guys claming an average over 22mpg need to prove it with more than 1 fillup. You can not check it one time on a trip and then clam that as your average. I not saying you can't get over 22 I'm just saying every one that has clamed that has never stepped up with proof.

My average for the past month. That 17.x tank I did some medium-heavy towing, that's why it's lower than the rest.

when I averaged 22mpg in my truck in my sig it was over a six week period driving 140 miles on the interstate everyday. I was on an overtime job and didn't drive the truck except back and forth to the job. Everyday.

I may be asking a lot but I want to do better than that. I also want a shortbed street truck hotrod again. Driving a big 4x4 is fun, I just miss having a street truck and shifting.
