High idle Cold Temps Bad for converter?

I remember reading awhile backon the DP about using High idle when temps are cold can lead to burnt TQ converters due to the factory tuning?

Just would like to know if its safe to use my high idle with out burning up the verter.

Problem we have in Santa's backyard is having to wait a good 10min before engaging fast idle as oil gets thick enough to flow out of the breather. Usually below -20F.
