Most hid kits are plug and play. I have never cut and spliced any of the installs I did. Mounting locations vary. I have a KD harness and a plow so I mounted mine two just inside the grill, and 2 between the headlight and parking light. With all the plugs I have I was running out of room.
What kits to order is up to you, it's a preference thing. Personally I went with 35w 5000k 9006 bulbs for my lows and 55w 5000k 9005 bulbs for my highs. I wouldn't reccomend 55w on stock wiring, that's when things start to cause problems IMHO. I don't have projectors, I just aimed the lights after installing them. I don't see the benefit of projectors, then again most of the ones I have seen are cheap and don't fit correctly.
Ian J I can't look up the Nissan patrol. If you know what bulb it takes stock, and what color light you want I can tell you what you need. You just have to decide where to order from.
