Hi Everyone! I just bought my 2nd Lb7 truck, and i wanted to know what is the first few things i should want to do to make my truck better.. It is a bone stock 03 2500HD LB7 EC/SB 4x4 cali emissions with 123k. Like i said this is my 2nd LB7, my first one was totally stock as well, just a work truck. So I'm very green to where i should start off with a new truck. I'm a manager at a garage, know quite a bit about gas motors, but not to much about diesels.. So when i bought this truck , I went through the whole chassis of the truck.. So no its got all new KYB Monomax shocks, MOOG ball joints and tie rods, inners and outers, and sway bar bushings and links, and new steering stabilizer.. As far as im concerned the chassis and suspension is all set for now. So now i need where to get started under the hood.. I'm from central NY and it doesnt seem like there is a lot of people around this area where i can go get work done. I went to my local dealer and they wasted my whole day with the runaround, obviously didnt really know what they were talking about. I have a fuel leak and cannot find it for the life of me.. from the fuel tank all the way to the block by the brake master is bone dry. Im only getting a leak on the passengers side of the motor. Also if i leave the truck running when i go in the store to get coffee, when i come out i'm blowing a blue cloud of smoke. Almost like it's loading up.. I did a balance test on my injectors and they were all between - .2 and -.5 . So from what I'm told thats good.. Any help here would be awesome. Thx

welcome! you should have put sleeves on when you did tie rod ends though
Yep i totally agree, I didnt read about the sleeves they make until after the fact. I plan on buying them and throwing them on. Im the manager of a local garage so i happen to have very easy access to align my truck anytime.. Any certain brand of sleeves i should get? thx

:welcome8: Were in central N.Y. are you?
Im living around Utica NY right now.. I have learned more on this website than i have from anyone that "works on Duramax" around here... After doing a bunch of reading, I believe that this white/blue smoke that I'm seeing is actually steam coming from my EGR cooler. And yes, I have also realized that I have a Cali truck... that sucks. Now I'm totally up in the air if I should get an EGR delete kit. Or fix the EGR cooler with an upgraded one, and not have to worry come NYS inspection time.
Still after 2 weeks looking for this phantom fuel leak that I have, I Always leave a voleyball sized puddle under the fuel filter side of the motor when i park after a drive into work. Also Yes I have checked the Fuel filter seal, as well as the fuel filter housing / head.. They are both leak free, with the drivers side of the motor completely bone dry. Driving me crazy..

Probably leaking from the filter or housing.Or an injector line is leaking out the top and trickling down the valve cover.Do jot rebuild or replace the egr cooler get rid of it.You will need some kind of Eli live programing to eliminate the check engine light and might as well add a few pennies while your at it :D

Also welcome to DD.Some of the best diesel minds hang out here and are always willing to help.
