What my uncle has black and red.Very nice bike.
As for a Harley(my opinion) if he get's one it will be in the shop more then riding it.
I worked at a bike shop for a few years during the off season and I've about rode them all and I prefer the Kawasaki's myself. I love my 1600 mean streak, but a 900 vulcan is about the best all around bike IMHO. Handle and ride great, plenty of power to pull two people, right at the top in fuel mileage and I've never had an engine out of the frame of one. And to me that's a big selling point. Both my parents have Harley's and my wife has a Honda Shadow, I think different people just like different sitting bikes. He'll just have to look at a few and see what feels to best to him. I'm sure he'll enjoy it no matter what he buys though.
