If it's only going to be five pulls a year you might be able to reinforce the stock one enough.
And why you got to be calling my stuff ugly anyways????:D

Is it really that big and ugly?:( I thought the rip in the bumper cover and the missing tailgate handle cover made it look worse than the hitch.:D

I fabricated a hitch thats as tight up to the roll pan as you can get. Its alot less visible than the stock one but stronger than a class V. Simple is best sometimes. 3" square tube 1/4" wall basically level with the bottom of the frame and secured to the frame similar to the stock hitch. lots of gussets behind the hitch. Should take alot of abuse.

All I have ever towed is a max weight 6500 lb trailer. haha I made it to fit with the roll pan but hell...go big or go home right?

I will be perfectly honest here guys. I don't like the aftermarket recievers. It's just not my thing. NO OFFENCE TO ANYONE!! That's why I would like to keep the stocker for now and just have something I can bolt in. I have some idea's but need to wait till I get home and do some measuring.
Do you have any pics of your set-up Chevmike??
Travis, how many bolts hold your tow beast to the frame?? On each side.

build your own that mounts between the frame rails instead of below it. Then put a hinged license plate holder on. Need to tow? fold the plate up, insert hitch and off you go. Not towing and you won't even be able to see the hitch.

They make them for the 1/2 tons but not for the HD frames and not rated high enough for pulling. So a custom job is your only route for that type of hitch. :D

3 bolts per side

If i was to do it all over i would build my own out of 4x4 square and put braces on it. It would be much cheaper, stronger and i could still use a 2" reciever insteead of the shitty 2.5"

A couple of spot welds on the sleeve that came with it and it's still a 2" receiver. I use a regular 2in hitch in mine.:)

Eric could you get some pics of your driveshaft loop system? I am having the hardest time figuring out how to mount the rear loop to the hogs head and also the front loop for the front diff.

I don't have any pics but the easiest way I have found is to use 1in angle iron the weld the loop to the angle. And drill two holes where the gusset on the housing goes from hogs head to the axle tubes. there is plenty of room for the holes there. Quick and pretty easy.

Stock Hitch

You can make a stock hitch work very well! I took my stock hitch and moved it up(the frame is strait) 18". Added a roll pan and ditched the bumper. Were the old hitch bolted to the bumper it now bolts to a bracket welded to the big X-member in the back of the frame. It is very strong with the support of the X-member. It really helps pulling BIGTIME! I need all the help I can get:baby: being a STD CAB. I will try and get some pictures of it when I get a chance to get in the garage. Between the RPM increase and the hitch moved up it picked my truck up a bunch at the last two events pulling. Jeff
