I've got an 03 with a swapped 05LLY, had a weird tick on acceleration, didn't think much of it, maybe exhaust leak, pulled out to pass grandma on the highway and it ticked the sounded like a constant "blow by" almost as if it had a blow out glow plug, but upon closer inspection, I came to find the O ring on the injector was missing, and there was oil/fuel everywhere.. I have a video for anyone interested 6138472103 and id be happy to pass it along.

Has anyone had or heard of this problem, is it as simple as replacing the injector o ring?

Thanks

The o ring doesn't seal fuel. It's just a dust seal..... If you have fuel there then it's coming from the line or copper. Look further for the issue.

@Cknight199 I pulled it, all I found was missing o-ring, hold down bolt was tight, is there something specific I should be looking for?

I've also heard of bent pushrods or broken rockers, could this be an issue?

I'm still new to the diesel game and diagnosis.. Appreciate the help!

How was the copper washer that seals injector to head? If you blew the O ring out (which is for dust only) then it sounds like excessive pressure behind o ring, due to faulty or missing copper sealing washer.

@wolfLLY... I'm gonna say it was missing, when I pulled the injector, it wasn't there..

You're sure? The copper washer will be pressed onto the tip of the injector and tight to the body of the injector...the o-ring is succeptable to being torn upon install/removal, it could've been there at some point

Yes, very much so...they are a crush type washer. I usually have to pull them off the injector tip with pliers
I like to replace them every time the injector comes out
You can pick up an injector seal kit, comes with o-rings and the copper washers for all 8, or you can buy them individually...

Well washer was broken.. In 3 places, got it out with some grease on end of an extension.. Worked well, now to reseal!
