what grounds have you tried so far? do all the gauges or just the fuel gauge not work? When it doesn't work is it just buried on the E ,like when the key is off? Have you messed with the bale connectors under the hood, could have a wire coming loose? I don't think the problem is in your tank. electrically ,the tank has noting to do with starting. which side of the truck were the injectors on?

The gauge doesn't move like when the key is off and I have messed with the bake connectors and used some dielectric grease to help if it was a bad connection
