I found a 2004 Silverado I want to buy, but the owner (an older man) says it will start and run, but it "won't accelerate".

I tried to pin him down on that and he told me just that - that it will run, but when you lean on the go pedal it won't rev up any further.

Speaking as a former (gas) engine builder and hod rod enthusiast I'm taking that as, it's suffering from fuel starvation? But, talking about diesels, doesn't the Duramax have a transfer pump like my 2000 Dodge/Cummins does, or does the Duramax CP3 do all the work?

I looked for an OEM transfer pump on Ebay and all I found was the aftermarket stuff.

My thinking is, that if it's getting ANY fuel and will actually run the injection pump must still be good? But if the transfer pump is junk then the CP3 isn't getting enough fuel to do it's job.

So how about it Duramax pros, What does this problem sound like to you and how sure are you of your answer....%%%%%?

HELP!!!!!

HELP!!!!!

I want to thank you guys for confirming what I suspected might be wrong with this truck. I went to Texas this week and bought it and had a diesel shop look at it, only to discover that (even though the seller told me he already installed a new TPS) mice had bitten through the entire TPS harness so when the seller installed the new TPS it wasn't even hooked up to the truck, because of the severed harness!!!!

$156 and 45 minutes later I was driving my 2004 Chevy dually back to Illinois

The truck IS for sale and it's posted right here on the forum. $8750 and you are an owner!!!!!!!
