HELP!!Wheel bearing snapping off continuously

If it were me..... I would get a set of timken hubs/wheel bearings and throw them on. Then I would contact Moog and let them know what happend. Hopefully you can get some money back or compensation for your loss. Don't hold your breath on that though. I stopped using Moog stuff.

So what am I suppose to do replace both wheel bearings in front and hang on?

well what else would you do? kinda hard to drive on knuckles only ;). your wheels are not helping the issue but the cause is either you over torqued that center nut/didnt torque enough or they were just defective bearings

Everyone is stuck on it's an issue with Moog but the second one that snapped was an oem one he said. Many guys have wheels with a lot of offset and bigger tires than that. I would believe it was install error when you did the lift.

That's true, but he didn't replace it, it was the stock one. And after putting the lift on it put a lot of stress on an already worn out bearing. The same thing happened to me. Even though mine didn't shear off like his, the left side went. then shortly after my right side went. I think its just a coincidence.

the lift wont add anymore stress other than by its added weight, the tires and wheels will though.

what i dont get is if he noticed no signs of them failing. squealing brakes, loose steering, or mushy brake pedal to name a few. im not blaming anything on the OP but those are a few signs to make you check your front end out.

Yeah I noticed a squeaky wheel along with play. They never did this haha.

I work at a diesel performance shop have installed numerous wheel bearings on these truck I've always torqued wheel bearing to 177 foot pounds with the wheel off the ground

looking at your pic, the right side wheel bearing looks like its been cracked for a while and finally failed. best i can tell from the pic, you see some dark/dirty steel, then clean fresh steel where the hub flange use to be which would indicate an old break.

personally, buy two new timken hubs, put them on and do your normal checks on them every 3k till you feel comfortable about them. seems like a fluke they broke so close together like that

any idea how many times the axel nut has been takin off and on in the life of the cv shaft?? for front end work or anything else done to the truck??. I have seen severly failed wheel bearings drivin way farther and faster down the road than I though possible with about 2 inchs of play not a bearing left in it but never seen the stub of the cv shaft bust off like that I would say it was fatigued enough that last toqure was almost to much but then driving putting more pressure on it was over the limit they usually hold the bearing togeather really good even if they get hot

I had a factory one in my 02 do this was a fabtech 6" lift I luckily was coming to a stop herd a loud bang and my truck fell to the left and my rim and tire just rolled on threw and fell over on the other side of the intersection:roflmao: I was 17 and really embarrassed lol but I had the exact same thing I just did both sides new after that. Truck only had 56k miles on it when that happened to

Axle nut has been off once ...I'll do both sides and see how it goes torque axle nut to 177 footpounds with no weight on it
