Pretty sure the copilot isn't "supposed" to alter the lockup until its on its highest level anyways. So if you plan on running it on 4 even if it worked right it wouldn't mess with lock up. So your not missing out on anything.

x2 all the way up is Competition Mode

Mine seems to shift pretty hard as is... I'd be afraid to turn it up all the way and see how hard to shifts

I was thinking the same thing... something just wasn't right with that....

I still think it wasn't receiving a VSS signal, but who really knows...

I'm thinking now I might have the balls to let it shift to 5th.. probably rev it to 3600 to ease on torque (I shift everything else at 3500). Might bring my trap speed up a mph or two :)

And they repaved my local track... so there is a chance it will hook above 5psi now :D hmmmmm.......

Dreams of running a 12.99 won't let me give up just yet

The copilot unlocks the gain valves ( big valves that sit on top of the trim valves) so instead of feeding pressure through the small holes in the gain valve to actuate the trim valves; it stroke the big trim valves which can give you unregulated pressure and break things. It's a gamble.

hmmm... that's a little scary to hear. Mike, what is most likely to break if it was to do something wrong and create too much pressure? Is there more/less chance of this happening depending on what setting it's on? or does that not matter?

thanks!

Mike I just read an older thread that stated that using trans go valves and a co-pilot can cause a tie up on the 3-4 shift. And that some adjustments to the tcm tune were needed... now this was also a 5 speed in question.

I was just curious... since my 3-4 is extremely fast now, it worries me...(and I have a trans go jr. kit installed) can I add just a little time to the target shift time in my tune? try and slow it down to make sure it's not tying up the shift? or bad idea?

thanks,

Todd

When using the copilot with Transgo valves, the 2 holes in the valve body plate must not be drilled out larger. The damage that can occur is stripped splines on the C2 hub and P3 planet. I have billet C2 hub and P3 planet which will save the splines but they are expensive.

Oh crap... I definitely drilled those holes when I installed my trans go jr. :(

Anybody have a spare plate for a 6 speed laying around? they want to sell me... I'm going to get that switched out asap...

I am reading different things about what size holes I want in the separator plate for use with the co-pilot? stock sized or actually slightly drilled out but not like for the trans go?

I can't find a replacement plate, so I am going to pull mine and fix it. I figure I can mash the holes in and re-drill or if I have to, I'll weld them and stick the plate in the surface grinder.

But I need to know what sizes holes to go with? What were they stock? thanks!!

Update:

Pulled the valve body today, took the plate out. After considering a few ideas I decided to weld the holes up. I have some special almost porcelain type stuff that's been ground flat that I layed under the plate. Kept the weld in check. Took my time to grind down the weld to get it very flat... came out nice.

Also built a filter lock while I was in there. When I put the ats solenoid in the other day, I bought an allison deep pan and filter that I stuck on... but they were out of filter locks where I ordered my stuff.. so I made one today to make sure I don't run into trouble there.

Re-drilled the holes to .052 roughly. (Not much larger than stock). Put the truck back together and managed to get stuck in the snow between my shop and house (it's my fathers machine shop, I live 1/2 mile away). We got annihilated with snow/blizzard last night.. trying to push snow that's as high as the top of the bumper up hill wasn't happening. So there it sits.. Not a fun walk home in 20 degree temp with howling wind blowing snow in your face.

Only made it to second gear in that escapade but so far it seems to be functioning properly... once the weather co-operates and I can take it out with the co-pilot on and see how those shifts feel now.. and hopefully I won't be tearing any splines apart.

Thanks for the info Mike and everyone else

Just a quick video update:

First 1-4 wot pull after making some partially throttle runs... already shifting better than before I fixed the separater plate. Before it was harsh and borderline violent. Now it's shifting decently quicker than without the co-pilot but there is still a bit of a delay between gears (can actually feel a little defuel again like you would expect with an allison).. seems like the happy medium :thumb:

Shoot man, I have never read anything about that? Wonder if that is with TC lockup that it becomes an issue? which of course wouldn't effect me now lol.

Hmmmm....
