Ok guys I need some thoughts and opinions on this. I'm bout to pull my hair out lol. I'm slapping a built long block in my 06 lbz here very soon. Corrillo rods, studded, delipped and coated pistons, 3388 socal cam, mild port polish blend on the heads, socal springs, blah blah blah, ect ect ect. For fuel I have duel fueler with 2 stock lbz pumps. I'll either do 60 or 100 overs. I drive it daily so possibly 60% are better. I do tow once a blue moon and it would be a 09 keystone cougar 5th wheel weight at 9500 to 10k at most. I have towed it 1 time over 4 years to give you an idea. Next estimated tow will be in 3 years after completing this long term job.

My goals are 750 hp minimum as of now with a single. I'd like 800hp and I'd feel like I accomplished something. Lol. I may twin later.

I have a 4094vvt power max stage 2. My choices are to keep it or go s400. I'd rather keep it and keep the street manners but will it get me to my goals? I have talked to mark and to Russell as well as a few others and right now I think my best option is to make a kind of cheetah clone based off a 4094. Full milled exhaust housing, fingers vanes, 72mm wheel. Mark says he will not sell his 72mm stg2r in a single due to surge, I haven't seen the cheetah having this issue. I know I'm asking alot from the 4094 but I believe, on my limited knowledge on the subject, that it is possible. The cheetah is rated to 850, stg2r has hit 800, this one should be good for 800.

Or ditch it for a s475, s468 or similar.

Thoughts? Opinions? Real world experience appreciated.

I talked to mark a while back and like you said he won't let the 72 stage 2 r go in w single set up. However he did say he had a diff set of vanes that wake them up considerably..

I've got a buddy with a danville 72, 100s, and 10mm pump and it drives like stock with a simple tune in it. Granted the 100s are a little smokey rolling into it but the tune has not been finished and I'm sure that most of that will go away.

I've not been in an street s400 truck. However it'd be hard for me to give up the vgt for drivability..

What elevation are you at?

Yeah he told me the 72mm stg2r surged in a single so he only does it in twin setups. Would fingers vanes be different is what I'm wondering. I'm in Georgia so pretty close to sea level.

I love my s468 with Korys Tunes. Runs super clean and drives great. I think it would do 800 if pushed.

I'd go with a billet 468/87 1.0ar. I don't see why you couldn't grab more than 800 with 100% overs. 475 will spool quick but you'd really have to watch your egts going up inclines. If you plan on going with an s400 a billet 68 would probably suit you best.

I prefer the 468 over the 4094. The 4094 was ok if there wasn't any hills, on hills it was to touchy. If cash wasn't a issue I would of kept my 4094 and twinned over it no doubt.

If I can hit 800hp and still have good street manners I'd be satisfied and keep it a single for a while. The only fixed vane I have to compare to is the ole 7.3 powerstroke I have owned in the past. They were very street able, come on strong and hit hard on top, the lbz stocker falls on its face hard, I know this is apples and oranges though. If I do twins it will be down the road unless someone has a setup they wanna let go cheap. I talked to Russell on the phone yesterday for a short bit (super nice guy and very knowledgeable btw) and we figure I already have the 4094 so mill it to 72mm and hog out the exhaust side, possibly do a hx40 outlet which I'd like opinions on that. But I'm not 100% sold. I'm afraid I'd be disappointed with the output and kick myself in the rear for not going s400. On the other hand the cheetah is hitting 800s based on a stock frame so I should be able to do the same with this....... this is starting to haunt my dreams lol. Ever wake up in a cold sweat from a dead sleep because you dreamed you went with a s475 and your truck was a strait dog? I know I can't be the only one lol.

Hahaha I just watched it again and noticed that as well. Lol. Damn it Zach, wanna buy a 4094? Lol

Would a banks hot side fit the s400? I'm sure I'll need a spacer.

But the S475 looks better.. haha

I'm running a S475/87/.90 on mine with stock injectors and it's driveability is amazing. With the right converter and TCM tuning it makes all the difference in the world. If you're ever over this way in SC I'd be happy to let you drive it and see how you like it. :thumb:

Dang that's sexy! I have a 1058 I believe it's a 2300 brake stall. Do yall think that's enough converter?

Hey-
Honestly the turbo runs great even with me having stock injectors. You converter stall should be OK for running a 475 yet still allowing you to tow when needed and be pretty street able. I've always found it to be super easy to tow with mine just locking O/D out so i don't hit 5th and have never had a problem- albeit a little smoky lighting the turbo on grades once it's lit it runs cool and pulls hard.

I know if i did bigger injectors i could cut some pulse width and make it even more street able. Here's another picture and a few vids:

(All these videos were before TCM tuning- made a huge difference in how it runs and shifts to maintain boost)
