I'm at the point with my truck where im not to sure what to do . I've always taken good care of it but it has rust unfortunately. Needs rockers and cab corners but I pulled the rear flair and realized the bed is rotted bad on the arches and some of the braces . Is there a place that specializes in this body style that maybe I could buy a bed from that is in nice shape ? If not may just cut my losses and buy a newer truck .

Find a place that installs flat beds. If you are in Harford county MD call moxleys up in street. They install alot of flatbeds and may have one sitting around. This is the main reason I always pulled the Flair's off every older body style. They trap water and dirt.

There's always car-part.com, search Missouri/Colorado or Southwest states, hook up a trailer and go on a mini-vacation.

My plan is to do just that, b/c BBT is losing the battle to rust. Plus, I can take the wife to the Grand Canyon, which she's always wanted to see.

It's hard to make anything survive in this state with the amount of salt they put in the roads...I don't care what you do. Best thing I can say is when winter comes coat the underside with some kind of oil...

Rust is very common at the rockers, cab corners and under the bed. Also the rear shock mounts are common as well for the rust belt. The best thing to do is completely coat the underbed with bedliner. I honestly have not seen a truck with bedliner fail to rust besides the exposed uncoated area under the bedliner. I plan on doing that to mine this winter when I take it off the road, not letting this truck to rot out. The trick is to eliminate the moisture on the components before painting or bedlining.

I have a contact of a guy that hauls rust free stuff from Texas, back to Michigan. I'm not sure if he ever gets out your way, but it may be worth a shot? I got mine from him for $1,200.00.

well guys I picked up a bed today, I got a sweet deal for 600 bucks and its rust free yes rust free. I couldn't believe how nice it was every inch of the floor and braces and wheel wells are as solid as new. so what is everyone recommending I coat this with? por15? bedliner?
