I'm trying to get the engine back in the truck.
Are the torque converter bolts reusable?

I've searched and can't find any diagram for what bolts go where on the bell housing. Specifically, there are a few bolts that are not black and I forgot to note where those ones went.

Does the trans tube bracket go on a stud post or sandwiched between bell housing and the nut on the bolt/post?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Not supposed to reuse converter bolts. Not saying that I wouldn't though.

The trans dipstick tube will go on a studed bolt with a nut holding it on.

Mine are all studed bolts except the 2 at the bottom of the bell housing.

X2 on not supposed to use the torque converter bolts again. I use red locktite on them as well to help keep them from coming loose. Line up the oblong hole in the flexplate as the first bolt and don't tighten the bolts down till all of them are started. All the bell housing studs are the same expect for the bottom 2 and they're black bolts. The trans dipstick gets sandwiched between the stud and a nut.

SWEET :)

Thanks for the quick replies! Helps a ton since I don't want to tear stuff apart because I didn't get it right the first time

Also, do I have to go in any sequence when installing the bolts, or step the torque up to the final number?

Start with the oblong or oversized hole, get them all in and finger tight then torque them down. I don't think there is a sequence, I'm not totally sure, but that sucks if there is cuz you gotta turn the engine over by hand, and to sequence the bolts would take forever:baby:

sorry knight, didn't see the part about the red lock tight in the post above. Well, I did the star pattern and the red lock tight. Starters back in, motor mount bolts in. Just need to connect a few wires, install cooling stack, pray, and then try'n start her up :)

Anyone know how to get all the air out of the lines? did head gaskets and every line is totally empty. Is it ok/good to just prime the system like you would after a fuel filter change and crank it until it starts or does that trash the injection system pushing all the air through?

Thanks for the help fellas!

you will probably have to prime like you changed the filter and crank the truck over some. Then go back and prime, crank, etc. Once the cp3 gets fuel it will take off soon after that.

sorry for the ignorance, but what's treed?

Also, somehow when I moved the truck once the engine was out, one of the brake lines got wrapped around the steering shaft ): There are two that come off of what I think is the master cylinder (mounted to fire wall with brake fluid reservoir on top) and its one of those. I traced it back to what I'll call a terminal block under the drivers seat. So, the two questions are:

1. What size are these dang brake lines? I bought 1/4 and 5/16 and while the 5/16 line looks the same as factory, the nuts are a different size. So, the only other one I saw at the local parts store was a 6MM, is that what size they are?

2. Can I just start at the farthest tire from that terminal block and bleed the system like you would any other bake system cracking the nipple loose and having someone else push the pedal etc etc…?

Thanks :)

If all goes well I'll hopefully have my new to me 11 CC/LB/DRW/LTZ on the road tomorrow for the first time :woott:

Treed is a drag racing joke, we were typing the same thing at pretty much the same time and he beat me on the post lol. Lights at the track are called a Tree.

Not sure what size the lines are but you are supposed to bleed the abs module, which is what you are seeing on the drivers side frame rail, with a computer. You could try to bleed it and see what happens. Might get lucky

Found it BTW, its a 5/16 line with a M12 1.0 nut.
