My truck has 136000 miles on it thought I would change the filters. I change the spin on about every 30000 miles but this time I thought I would change the internal filter which I did and put DVI back in it. Used about 7.5 quarts and it showed to be full at the cold mark. Start it and let it run for a bit and back out of the shop and shifted to first and it went about 20 feet and it slipped and then caught. That was Friday went to work today and truck set for 10 hrs got in it and drove about 100 yrds got in traffic and to punch it and it slipped and would not move. Put it in park and move it back to drive and it was stuck in 3rd. Pull over and killed it and started back up and it shifted through the gears then. Ran a scan on it had codes 751 and 871. What could I have done to screw it up Please help

To start with if I'm reading what you wrote right you checked fluid with the truck off. You need to check it while it's running.
x2. And cold reading should be taken by letting your truck run for a minute or two then cycling between D,N and R. You should then check your fluid when it gets warm.
I personally had to add a little more after replacing the pan filter.
Fluid should be checked at operating temps. Usualy 175F. Level should be half way on the hot grid with stock pan. Lower if you have a deep pan.
Mike will chekc it again so you think that it may just be low of fluid. It had air bubbles on the dip stick right after it slipped i pull over the side of the road and pull stick to make sure it had fluid. It show to be at the cold level. Dad always said i could screw up anything now at 64 he may be right. I did not use the OME filter brand.
I wanna know why you don't use the deep pan like it's supposed to be used and put the extra fluid in there and fill it up like normal were it measures does change 
Here would be my reason of thought being the person that i am i would proable drop the pan spill all of the fluid out and have start over. Might could have done that 40 years ago but at my age laying on my back in the shop just know what would happen.

The Allison has a drain plug which makes things a lot easier. No mess.
