ok i have a 04.5 lly, have done exhaust, cold air intake, pcv reroute, and egr delete. i have never had a chip or tune on the thing since i bought it at 32,000 miles. so i have had the hg done two times now and still pushing coolant out of the overflow :banghead:. both times i sent the heads to the machine shop to have them tested for cracks and warpage. this truck is really gettin on my nerves. ive replace 4 injectors, water pump twice, thermostats twice, all new o-ring on radiator, new upper and lower hoses, arp studs, new guides on a couple valves, and two different styles of head gaskets. can anyone help please!!!!!!!!

What style of head gaskets did you use? On an lly, there really isn't much it can be. Bad coolant cap, egr (which yours is deleted) or HG.

If you want to verify its a head for sure, pull your thermostats out and fill the bridge up with water. start the truck and keep filling it up with water until it quits taking it. Then you should be able to see tiny bubbles come up from either side indicating which head has an issue.

I'm told by my engine machinist, the 'steel like' multilayer headgaskets need a smooth finish to seal properly, and both heads and block need to be checked for flatness.

Have you taken your truck to the same person twice now? Or have you done the work yourself? It's possible that the HG got put on the wrong side, or bad mating surfaces.

both were done at the same shop and the block was checked as well. i was there the second time putting the heads on because i had a day off. the shop that i take it to is a good family friend and a well trusted mechanic and machinist around town, we prepped the block with a sanding block with real fine grit. then wiped them clean with brake cleaner on the rag. and yes the gaskets were on the correct side but i cant remeber for sure which ones are which. the fist set that were put on was the felpro blue from the dealer, we were told they were the gm upgraded ones. then the second time was the multi layered stainless head gaskets which look just the the original ones . im thinkin just put some sealer shit in the coolant and sellin the thing. but these pickups are really awesome for what i do and absolutely not want to sell it
